Re: SG COYOTE 4WD
You asked for it! This car is still very much a project. All I have done is clean the paint from the wheels, find some kit tires and give the thing a very basic cleaning. Oh and I made a halfhearted attempt to locate a body.J.M. wrote:Can you post any pics of your project up here?? Happy to see others up here too.
I got this thing in a lot buy on ebay in whaat turned out to be a good deal. I snagged a Super Champ in good shape, minus body, a Wild One in need of love, two Blackfoots (Blackfeet?) and a 1/12 scale road car of some description. Oh plus a few radios and paraphanelia. It's in remarkably good shape, just needs to be blown apart and cleaned well.

Re: SG COYOTE 4WD
Good to see yours up here Gary. They take a bit of work but those determined to stick at it should end up with a very unique and cool buggy.

SG COYOTE FINISHED!
This project seriously has taken up a lot of my spare time for a quite a while. I really didn't want to half do this car and I've had the completed car in mind all this time. This SG has turned out exactly as I had hoped and I am really happy with the finished product.
The inspiration for this build steps back to when I first began racing off road in the 1980's. I found out a class mate in high school had one of these cars and he never got it onto the race track so I asked him to come along with me to a meeting to run his car out on a real race track. While he really enjoyed the meeting his car let him down in a big way. The plastic input drive gears in the gearboxs didn't last long and his car was plagued with other problems. Sadly despite all our best efforts we never did get that car to work properly and in the end the car was sidelined and replaced by a JRX PRO.
All these years later and not to be beaten by a few gremlins I wanted to build up a car that in a way resembled that of the car which failed us all those years ago. I still don't think this car is the ideal vintage racer but I am confident I could get this car to finish a race or too (even if at the back end of the field).
I opted to fit EAGLE 'Supershot' type spikes as these were the tyres my old pal ran on his car back in the day. Everything on this car had to be period correct right down to the Beat2 radio set which he used back then.
Today I wish we were still intouch but sadly I moved states not long after finishing high school and we lost contact. If only I could find him now and hand him the transmitter so he could take this car for a spin and relive childhood memories the way they should have been

Re: SG COYOTE 4WD
That turned out perfect! I love the paint!
Funny enough, I bought my SG for a very similar reason. Growing up a good friend had one. I have been collecting all my friends cars from growing up. Optima mid, zerda, and a rc10. One day we will all get together. As of right now, none of them know as I don't stay in close contact, but I know where they are.

Re: SG COYOTE 4WD FINALY FINISHED!!!
Although I tried looking up my old friend on FB a few times before until just now I had little success finding him. Just did another search and after looking at his friends list I am certain it is him.
Just sent through a friends request plus a msg with a couple of pics of this build.
Can't wait to catch up for a chat

Excellent work Jason. I have a NIB 2WD SG sitting here at the house waiting to be built. I can only hope mine turns out half as nice as yours did. Great work on it and the paint job is perfect.

Re: SG COYOTE 4WD FINALY FINISHED!!!
Many thanks Jake. I'd love to have two Coyote's. The second car would be insink with the kind of car you'd like to build. Lots of mods that will see this car do well out on the track. Can't wait to see yours when it's done

I know you drive all your cars. Make sure you get some pics of the car actually moving for us, such a cool looking car.
When you get a chance, I need the info for the guy we discussed in NY with all the SG Coyotes NIB. I am going to reach out to him again.
