Thanks Guys! I've stretched her legs up and down the street a little, but sometine this weekend I'm going to try and get her dirty at a construction site or something. Hope I can find some jumps, and catch some air! BTW how much run time you think I'd get out of 1700s on an 8.5 Brushless? Or should I just keep the 16T brushed in there for now...

I spent the last few days making some updates to my Ultima Pro. Added A&L steering w/ a custom rack, did some cutting on the JG upper deck, and dyed some plastic. Oh and deanodized the shocks since I had unmatching colors of gold. I carved plastic from the rear bulkhead in an effort to get inline battery placement, but it still isn't making it... :( I guess If I REALLY want that, I'll have to get a shorty servo or lipo.

I also found a cheap way to replace your cluster gear. Traxxas PN1884, 2 5x11 bearings and one carefully placed hole. It includes a 5mm shaft to mount it up, and it changes the "internal" ratio to 2.73. Its a 44t gear. You may also have to lengthen the motor mount holes to get a decent size pinion in place. I haven't gotten quite that far yet.

I still need to work out motor protector/guard, but have some ideas. I have to find the metal plates for the opposite side of the trans or make some first.

Does your gearcover still fit with that cluster gear?
for the moterguard: the original mounting point has it sit real close to the moter. So I used that one hole that sticks out further (where the rollcage attaches on the gen1).
The 2upper holes of the gearbox and this hole on the plate are all in 1 line, so it' real easy to make a fitting part.
The stand-offs between the housing and plate are tougher to do yourself unless you have turning-skills?

Erik - I still don't have a gear cover. :( ...I think the stock one will still fit. I'll be sure to let you know when I get one. :)

I have found that a B4 motor guard fits REAL easy:

I took the car to the softball field yesterday and brought some garage scraps for a jump.

The file had a lot of loose dusty stuff on the surface, and with no slipper careful throttle control was necessary to say the least. I think I'm going to have to upgrade some batteries sooner than I thought. My tired 1700s ran 2:30 and 4 minutes. The 2400 and 4200 packs didn't run at all. :( Still had fun for a little while though..

I'd love to see a pic of the bottom of that motor guard, and how it mounts to the chassis there. I wonder if it would work for an Optima?
