Airtronics wheel radio FM crystal KINGS

Post by carloco8 »

The first R/C radio I ever held was my father's kraft/ko propo kp3kw 3ch. am controller. I absolutely loved it and now that its gone I miss it, but from then on its been Airtronics FM since the CS2P for my racers. I've been racing for a long time and with 2.4Ghz slowly taking over the R/C industry I thought I'd show my radios that are still going strong :D........ The Airtronics FM wheel radio family - CS2P, 3P, 3Ps, M8, CX2P, MX-3, M11

Very nice collection of radios you have there. I always wanted a 3PS in my early years of racing, when I could finally afford a nice radio the M8 had just come out so I bought one of those. I had it for 9 years and ended up selling it to a coworker when I got out of RC about 5 years ago. Long story short, of course I got back into racing and now vintage RC's, I went racing in another state this winter and lo and behold I took a few laps with a guys truggy and I'm holding my old M8!!. Complete with my Social # engraved on it and all my purple screws. The guy wouldn't sell it to me, I even whipped out my social security card to prove it used to be mine.

You just made me go back to Ebay to look for another M8!!

Sorry for the long story
Mark

No problem, I love hearing about controller stories! A good radio is one of those pieces of r/c equipment that seem to last forever. However, with these radios here, the 3p and 3Ps are not my originals. They were sold bitd, but I've found the two I have now on ebay within the past few years for great bargains! I hope you find an M8, its a great radio I'm sure you already know 8)

was the CX2P a budget version of the 3P/3PS?

I'm watching 3 m8's on Ebay now, I don't think I can buy one right now as I'm in the middle of moving and next week is the VONATS, so I need money for that. But soon I'll get another one

Yup, the CX2P was like a revamp of the old CS2P in a 3P/3Ps body.

i have 2 caliber 3ps radios. have you ever had the internal battery on your 3ps go out? both of mine are out and i can no longer see the screen, i heard it is a common problem.

CX2P in this scene (you will have to click video for it to play)

My original 3Ps was fine for the longest time. It was also stored with fresh batteries year after year though. I have been keeping fresh batteries in the current 3Ps I have now and haven't had any problems with it yet. I'm not sure if keeping fresh batteries in it affects the internal battery, but I've only had a battery go out on my 3P radio and it was stored without batteries for a loooong time. I had it's internal batt. replaced by airtronics a few years back and it has been doing well since.

Also, does anything come up on the screen at all or is it completely blank? If you accidentally locked the screen then it will power up normally but most of the features do not appear and you cannot scroll through them.
