Hirobo Hilux 44B - how much to sell for?

Post by Lonestar »

Hey guys - looking for some help here... this is NOT a FS thread :)

I have this 44B hilux project that's been sitting on my shelf forever, and I decided I give up looking for a body for it... it looks lilke it's been run 3 times at most, the front bumper holder is bent, and is complete barring the front bumper,... and the body :(

here are pics

Any idea how much I should ask a track pal of mine who wants to buy it?

Thanks :)

has to worth 200.00 at least due to its rarity, you have to be keen to find one, and not be in a hurry thats for sure.

44B was the first 4WD electric RC vehicle to me. I didn't have it. but I didn't see any 1:10 4WD before 44B.
834B was released a few months later if my memory is correct

can anyone tell me what was the 1st EP 4WD?

Actually, that's a good one... 834B in 1984 I think, HotShot 1985... 44B's, not sure, but the zerda was released in 1986 I think, so I would think 1984 too maybe for the 44B. Interesting question... Darryn?

I just won this on ebay and cant wait to get it.I have never seen this model with the Lancia body. Not sure if this would give you an idea of what yours is worth as I thought I would be paying allot more than I did.Can these really be compared to a buggy? Are they the same chassis as a Zerda?

The Lancia is probably the rarest of them all. I have all 4 of the 44B series NIB with a couple of duplicates of some models, (including the Hilux).

The Hilux is the most different, as it has a very short wheelbase. The others all have the same wheelbase.

The 44B series of cars were the first real "serious" electric 4wd buggies produced. The "Rockin Vega" was the first of the 4 to be released - that was in approximately Dec 1983. The 44B series grew to the Zerda - with only mild mods to the chassis, different wheels and tires and a pipe frame body set (thats a very basic run down).

I am still very much hunting a body set for the Hilux - as I have three NIB kits - but the last one is missing the body - that ones going to be a runner.

Cheers

Darryn

I saw that one James, and was interested in it.... but lack of finances put paid to my bids. I had one of these back in the day that I paid $80 for out of the Trading Post..... but the body was cactus, and the car pretty much worn out.... think I still have some small bits for it somewhere. Look forward to seeing that one up and running at Boondal!

Rock'n Vega, Darryn ;)

Yes, these are cool cars indeed... very modern in their 4WD conceptions (mid motor, lower a-arm + upper rod, belt driven, and the likes). Reliability was a bit of an issue I think though, plus the Optima pretty much reset the standards once, then the cat xls and yz-10, and then it was bye bye hirobo pretty much. Shame, these guys know how to do helis, and helis sure are more complex than cars!!!
