Gettin ready for a homemade raft race down the Scioto River!

Post by Frogwagon »

Every year in August a bunch of us get together and float down the scioto river on tubes and homemade rafts. The thing is, you cant paddle, you just get a push-pole to keep from getting hung up. everyone put 10 bucks in a jar and the first one to the finish line gets the money!!! Then there is a big hog roast/part that night. Ive done it every year since was 18(thats how old you have to be to enter, im 23 now). It a blast. This is my raft for this year, dont know how well it will work but it will still be a blast. 3 peices of 4 inch pvc pipe capped off with a longer one in the middle, between the pipe i am goin to put 4 inch thick blocks of styrofoam. SHOULD work........i hope lol

Still not done but almost there!

Are you sure it's not sponsored by Redbull

You never know, you might find someone on here that can give some raft building hints. You got a good start on it, a lot better than I would.

get the blue blocks for styrofoam, it's made for docks and rafts and it's easier to work with than the white stuff.

looks like fun, wish we had cool stuff like that to do around here.

the white stuff i have if for making boat huals, its just like the blue foam.Once its in the water you can walk on it without it breaking, i made my raft from last year out of just foam and glued it together> Made it 10' by 5' and it held 3 people just fine. I just got to think of a name for my new raft, I'm thinkin the S.S. Jimmy Rigged lol

few names to give ya something to think on... since its made with piping.....

pipe dreams
outdoor plumbing
river plumber
flushed away

with the last 3 names you could also fashion a porcelain throne as a seat if you can find somebody throwing one out, or cut out some foam to make it look like one.

Well Wilson was a volley ball. Do a Google image search for Al Snow.
