SRB Baja Bug
Never had an SRB so when I saw this Buggy Champ for cheap, I had to snatch it up.
I quickly sold the gold body and ordered a Scorcher bodyset and front bodypost. Building it up, I added the Tamiya ball diff (not sure why it doesn't come standard with this) and a CRP skid plate for the front.
I hard wired a Tamiya Sport tuned motor to the stock ESC to save me some Deans plugs and since neither will ever leave this buggy.
I had a pair of shocks in my spares that fit nicely on the rear. I was hoping since they had springs I could get rid of the torsion bars but the seem to work better with them since the springs are a little soft. Might have to play with it or get some stiffer springs that fit.
The overall chassis so far:

Re: SRB Baja Bug
HI!... Nice build! Can I ask what RC vehicle those rear shocks are from? I'm more interested in the shock spring collar. I need some like that for a project I'm doing. Any info would be great.
Thanks :
Neal.

Re: SRB Baja Bug
Thanks Neal. I found the shocks on the Bay about 2 years ago. I recently saw a similar set while searching:THE H.P FREAK wrote:HI!... Nice build! Can I ask what RC vehicle those rear shocks are from? When I got mine, there were a couple different color options.

Re: SRB Baja Bug
Painted up the Buggy Champ wheels and lettered the tires but got upset that the fronts didn't have "sand blaster jr." on them so they're on the Bay now. I went with these 1.5 wheels and tires instead.
Always had a thing for old school spiked tires.

Re: SRB Baja Bug
Finally decided to start finishing this one up. I'm ready to run it and get it dirty. Still need to paint a few details and finish the driver but I'm bout there. Progress pics:
I wish I would have filled the mirror holes before I painted it cause the mirrors look stupid. I don't even want to use them. Not really going for the super scale look anyway.

Very nice job. I love the little detailed "Monroe" decal on the front shocks - it makes it look very professional...

Re: SRB Baja Bug
Thanks fellas. Hopefully I can get it finished and get some action shots next week. I usually work like this... nonstop on a project till it's about 90% done, then I lose interest and it sits on the shelf for months while I start a new project. Gotta stop that. Which reminds me, I got a Bruiser I've been slowly building for over 2 years now which I need to finish. It's sad.

Re: SRB Baja Bug
Done.
Went a little overboard with the wipers. I also painted the drip rails since the paintjob is kinda plain to give it a little something.
Will be driven.
