I'm not a shelfer kinda guy. I like to run my cars. I mistakenly sold my original JRX2 but fortunately found a replacement and have since gone about modernizing it. Here are some pics and what I've done.
The first lexan body I've painted in 20+ years, not great by any means but for my REALLY bad skills and rattle cans I had left over, I'm happy with the patriotic look to it. You'll notice original rims on the front because I'm waiting for some newer 2.2 front rims to come in. I have XXX rims on the back that I had laying around. I used 2 nuts to add 3/16" to give clearance for the tires against the five link. The only issue I have now is the rear track is now 9-5/8" wide and I'm not sure I'm going to be happy with the reduction. The tires are something I'm keeping open for now.
It's a viper body that I had an extra of.
ACE-RC (thunder tiger) 3900KV brushless motor and yes the gear box had held up without ANY issues for 2 20 minute runs so far. I think it'll be fine long term.
Big reason is the slipper gear I got from Rick (THANKS BEAR). I'm running Losi Strike slipper assembly to utilize 86-90T spurs in lieu of the 2.19 IGR. I run the slipper a little looser than I normally like but refer to the 3900KV motor LOL.
XXT shocks with Losi Strike progressive springs. Performs AMAZINGLY well. This car handles bumps and jumps as well as my XXX did. A&L steering. Losi digital Servo. 2.4ghz radio. 2S lipo and brushless esc. Love modern performance.

So thats just a full Losi Strike slipper assembly including topshaft? If that works well I'd like to try that on one of my old losi cars.

No, I'm not sure where the topshaft came from. I got the shaft from Rick. The spur, slipper pads, plates, spring etc is from a Strike.
With the top shaft that Rick supplied me, you can use any modern Losi slipper setup. I had an extra XX and Strike set up and the strike has 86 88 and 90 tooth spurs so I ran with that to help offset the low internal gear ratio of the original x2 gear box.
Also, Kaiser, I'm really happy with the Viper body. Trimming it wasn't super easy and you'll notice the original top mount isn't showing. The body is held on by the 5 link mounts, the rear wing and of course the front mount.
