Blackfoot 3
Well,
With the exception of the original's scale OEM grille, it looks like a Blackfoot restoration should be pretty easy now.
Blackfoot 3 is due in Aug. w/original appearing hard plastic Ford Stepside body.
New chassis is typical Tamiya goofy design..not simple classic.
Let's hope an MB 2 is due soon with the original style Frog chassis..
Google: "Blackfoot 3" or check RCCA site for info.

Re: Blackfoot 3
"Reinforced polycarbonate monocoque frame" ??? That can't be right can it?
2.
RCCA: Will there a re-release of the original Blackfoot to coincide with the latest Blackfoot III?
FM: Unfortunately not, but a original re-release with some updated parts, very much like the original Frog, is something we really want to see come to light. Every time we forecast for new products the original Blackfoot is near the top of the list.
5.
RCCA: Any chance we’ll see a Monster Beetle on this platform?
FM: I’m not sure about that, but it is possible. I personally would like to see re-release of the original spec Monster Beetle with our updated dog bone drivetrain.

Re: Blackfoot 3
My first true Hobby RC was a Monster Beetle / Blackfoot. I wish it was based off the original. But it does look kinda cool, I dont like the short looking shocks lol

According to that RCCA interview with the Tamiya dude, we might be getting just that. Let's keep our fingers crossed.scr8p wrote:what's so f**king hard about putting this body on a brat chassis with some 2.2 truck rims?

Re: Blackfoot 3
that frog chassis just might be a fiber reinforced polycarbonate. I've never seen much like it to be honest. It won't take dye. (I have a half of a chassis that has slight discoloring from trying)

Re: Blackfoot 3
I was painting my frog chassis with Chevy engine orange paint when I was a kid. they take paint very well, I would guess even better now with the newer plastic paints?

X2 . Leave it to tamiya to screw up a classic. I think back in the day the blackfoot came in second to the RC10 in sales.scr8p wrote:what's so f**king hard about putting this body on a brat chassis with some 2.2 truck rims?

How do they figure thats the third incarnation?
Blackfoot
Super Blackfoot
King Blackfoot
Blackfoot Extreme
Also what makes this new one different from the "Extreme" version?

Re: Blackfoot 3
Oops I forgot they dropped the E in an attempt to be more Xtreeeeeeemmmmmeeeee!!!
This one has chrome rims, and is that a Super Blackfoot body? I wish I worked in Tamiya's marketing department as it must be a cakewalk.

Re: Blackfoot 3
Since this thread is already here I'll ask in here. Has anyone seen these in person yet? Ive been searching forever for a new rear bumper for my original resto ive been working on with no luck. hoping this has the same one.
Also how do I go about finding part numbers for this body. Maybe its because it is so new but I can't find anything for it.

Re: Blackfoot 3
I have contacted Tamiya USA, they currently list the body as "unavailable". I was told it is because the kit is so new. They told me to check back on January for availability status of the body.
I dont know about everyone else, but I'm in for at least 2 or 3 of the bodies when they release them. I have a feeling there will be quite an initial run on these, I'll bet Tamiya isnt prepared for it either..

Re: Blackfoot 3
Thanks for the help.
As for using the bodies themselves in place of the original ones. From the pictures I could find it looks like they are no longer produced with ford marking on the hood and tailgate. I still couldn't find a clear picture of just the rear bumper but I'm assuming its the same. Just a plane chrome bar.
