B4.1 carbon or composite chassis

I just made the mistake of letting my girl drive my b4......right into a curb
Snapped the front brace and chassis in the tip
Should I buy the composite or carbon replacement chassis
Which is stronger
Don't really care about much else
also is it worth while to buy the +8mm chassis?

The carbon chassis is harder but more brittle and more likely to break on hard impact were the composite has more flex and will absorb the hit.

If you plan on doing any kind of racing with the car I would recommend going with the +8mm chassis (btw, which is composite), the extra length doesn’t sound like much but in my case it made the car way more forgiving and easier to drive on the edge.

If I get the longer one will my old bodies fit? Is it necessary to get the batt strap?

from what i have read you can use your old body but it will be a bit short. but it will work. i believe the battery strap will also be needed seeing that they have one labeled just for that chassis.

this is just from what i have read. i personally do not have one of the long chassis. if i was going to order the chassis i would just go ahead and get the battery strap and body to fully update the car.

I tried my sons standard body on my +8mm chassis and they don't fit very well.

I have both, a stock b4.1, to which I recently fitted a +8 kit (chassis+strap)_

the short bodies fit the long chassis, not as tight a fit as a racer would really like but it "works" as long as you use velcro and not th body posts. The batt strap is specific though, but you can adapt a T4's I believe.

If you aren't a hardcore, highly skilled racer, don't believe the hype, you won't feel the difference between the short/ long, or graphite/plastic chassis despite what most people say...

if you hit a curb hard enough to snap a chassis, it doesn't matter which version you have, it'd be broken anyway.

Long story short, get the cheaper one, short, no adaptation needed :)

Here’s an old punnisher body that I trimmed to fit a +8 chassis. You just need to remove a little material behind the front wheel and it will fit pretty well.

I’m by no means a “hardcore” or “highly skilled” racer (only been at it for about a year), but not only did the longer chassis make the old car competitive against the newer buggies it helped me go from the “B main” to an “A main” regular at the local club track. If you’re going to bash there is nothing wrong with the short car but if you plan on setting the car down on a race track the longer car will jump better, be smoother over the rough stuff and overall just be less twitchy. My $.02.

I don't want to bash a car that I love ;)

I am decent to ok racer, although I don't get much wheel time these years (8ds of racing and no practice in the winter season as there's no permanent track, and then about 2 or 3 evenings and a raceday a month in summer) as in the past... when I rebuilt my car with the +8 chassis a couple of races ago this year, I ended up fighting with the exact same guys (all of us have been racing together for many years now and finishing order is rarely different from one race to another), for pretty much the exact same spot in the exact same main... the track layout changes every race so I can't compare lap times, but the very fact that I'm battling with the same guys tells me the +8 chassis is not lightyears ahead in terms of handling than the shorter one...

gonna stay with the regular on this one only bc i let too many people bash it around
wanting to put some $ togehter to build a b44 for me to run/race only

before the 8mm+ came out most pros would swap out the carbon for the plastic.
