RC10B3 Team Kit NIB

Post by everlast »

Here is a little story. Almost untrue but it really happened.

The other day I was searching through ebay looking for some parts to complete my RC10 fleet. Dont forget that I live in Germany and old parts are hard to come by. So I saw this NIB (already assembled) RC10B3 Team Kit #9033, starting at € 1,-. I set my bid, just to make sure I wont miss the end of the auction. First it was just for fun, but then the auction ended. Guess what, nobody appreciated this already rare car in Europe.

Since the car came from Italy I considered it would take at least a week to find its way upnorth here in Germany. I was wrong. The italian guy send the package express and it took merely 2 days to get here.

I opened the package and reallyeverything was in the box, the original box that is! Decals, body, manual and tools where all there.
The builder has done some minor mistakes while building it, but what the heck, I will take ist apart anyhow and start from ground up.

This is my AE car No. 25 (and counting) :P

Does anybody know waht the difference is between the two battery holdowns in the last picture?

i can't see the difference very well. but one might be carbon and the other might be plastic. or different lengths for different length chassis'. very good buy by the way. looks excellent.

Yep, they made a short chassis and a standard length as well as the two material differences.

Incredible deal, wow!

Like the others stated one is pry the carbon(left hand side) and the other is ABS or whatever plastic they were using. The carbon composite is gonna have thinner ribs and be a lil more rigid before breaking and cutting hand terribly...don't ask how I know...thats for another thread :?

Thx guys. I looked a little closer at these straps today, but they are botj made of carbon composite. They are also the same length. Whatever, I´ll keep them anyhow. I gotta paint the body these days and keep you updated.

From the pic you can notice the brace ribs are thicker on the right compared to the left one that looks a bit more lighter to the right one.
If you have slighly loose soldered packs id use the thicker strap. If there shrink wrapped use the lite one.DON

Here we go...

I took th eshocks apart and discovered, that the guy I bought this from, put the shock piston in the wrong way. #2 in the rear and #1 up front, combined wirth some thick shock oil. So I put everything back together according to the manual and used some WT20 oil (WT25 is currently not available...)
Than the body got painted and trimmed. Same happened to the wing.
I installed some electronics and made a testrun. Everything works fine and I´m waiting to take her out to the track...

Finally I got the almost right ipc esc for my B3. Not period correct, but it gets it rolling. I found an old german Pro Formance P2 12 turn motor for it as well.
