rc12e....a little different

I had a lot of 12e parts from ebay lying around and found a chassis but it was drilled and rough. Decided to build a pin router and make a new g10 chassis. Here's some pics

Pin router. Bit sticks up the height of the NEW part, the overhead pin drops to the height of the parts being copied.
Old and new are held together with double side tape.

That's Tight. Can you show a little bit more about how this Pin ROuter system works? I don't understand where the bit is doing the cutting? Maybe put the parts back on the table in the cutting position?

I will later but the bit you see (the drill bit) is just being used for following the master. I was just lazy and used a drill bit instead of a piece of 1/8 rod. The router bit only sticks up from the table the thickness of the blank plate.that way your not cutting up your master. Double sided tape just holds and spaces the pieces.

One thing I forgot to mention is with this method it is really easy to combine or hybrid pieces. For example doing battery cutouts. It is as easy as taping a chassis with cutouts to the blank and router them out. That's how I had to do the servo cut out, as the plastic upper I had was carved roughly.

That's very neat! Never seen this before, and not smart enough to do it! I would love to see a video of this! Is this tool expensive?

A regular router and table are about $120 new (harbor freight) and the bits are $18 and up( don't buy at harbor freight!). The rest was scrap metal. Its a lot cheaper if you shop garage sales and friends. I have seen decent routers with tables for $50 on craigslist.

Seriously, can you make a couple of sets to sell? I have all the parts to build a RC12e but not chassis or upper plate. I thought someone would do this sooner or later and now someone has. Looks great! If you are willing to make one for me, please PM me.

Yup you got it! I plan to make a quick little video but haven't had much time.

As far as making them for others....I will consider it. The bits are the hang up right now, cost about $18 just to cut that one upper and lower chassis as the carbide bits dull quickly. I am going to try some new bits and see how they go.

BTW, as far as the upper plate and bumper, I am getting mine from reign79 I just made the fiberglass one cause I wanted to see it in blue. His look original.
