Remember your first time...

Post by 328isjohn »

This Christmas I asked Santa to bring me a girlfriend...well Santa out did himself this year.
I showed her a few of my RC cars a few weeks back and she was impressed,it was super warm here in Ontario this past weekend, so on Sunday I told her we will walk to the local school grounds and I will let her try driving one.Now she was born in Romania, so she has never driven or seen an RC10 let alone an RC car before.
On our walk there I told her the only thing she has to be careful of is driving through big water puddles.
I finally got it all set up for her and showed her how the control worked and let her go.......It was so fun seeing the excitement on a 45 year old woman's face while
driving the car...she had so much fun....

Oh ya she found the biggest water puddle and it died...she was so upset that she ruined it...I told it will be fine once it dries out...which it did and was just fine.
ahhhhh the first time is always special.

the first r/c my wife drove was my 10x3 powered tc3 on the tennis courts by our apartment (at the time). you know those big metal posts that hold the net? ya, she hit one........ going fast too.

that was back in like '99-'00 or so. she hasn't touched a radio since.

My wife used to race a Graphite Team Car and could beat many dudes, but has not driven since 1998 or so as well! :(

Don't they make a place where first-timers can run high-speed RC cars? I mean, hell...school gyms have walls; tennis courts have posts; beaches have water; parking lots have cars & cinderblocks...

Great way to start a new year. 8)

BTW my wife's only experience with R/C is me occasionally running into her ankle while we're out on walks.

Damn, I searched for about 10 minutes to find the buggy that LowClassCC built for his wife, but the pics are all gone. :( If he ever peaks in here by some off chance maybe he can post a couple. Here it was...

Great story. Congrats on the new girl. Just don't tell her how much the RC's cost and you should be good.
