Super Scale Detailed Tamiya Sand Scorcher

This is the product of around a year of work, car turned out awesome. it is a mix of vintage with some new parts thrown in, as it stands, the shocks, the fiberglass chassis plate, tires, aluminum wheel inserts, front cross tubes, steering mechanism, and the rear cage are not vintage. The transmission and the front uprights are vintage.

Features of this car:

Fully custom, hand made interior including roll cage, driver. Driver has actual "seatbelts" that were custom made as well as the mounts and buckles. Driver also has custom hand painted flame job on his helmet, custom dash, aluminum bezel gauges, roll cage padding, NOS bottle, custom made and wired MSD ignition box, Custom shifter with a Dice for the shift knob. Custom made fire extinguisher, custom fuel cell, fuel pumps, and fuel pressure regulator (all are "plumbed" in). Custom wired battery and hold down strap. Custom made fuel filler behind the driver is plumbed to the fuel cell. Front aluminum skid plate is custom fabricated with roll tubing added for looks, plate is actually screwed to the tubing with .080 screws. looks great. Wheels have aluminum inserts, they look awesome, Rear tires were also modified to give them a much more aggressive look. All 4 tires were lettered. Radio gear configuration is also all custom fabricated to fit the chassis, it includes an HPI waterproof/reversible ESC, and a vintage JR Python controller. Full ball bearings throughout car.

Extensive body modifications include:

Body is new, not vintage. running boards removed and fenders shaved, custom fabricated enclosed fender wells at all 4 corners, custom fabricated engine cover and spoiler. Rear window was filled in and then early style split windows were cut in. Functioning hinge on the sunroof.

Fully custom engine, extensive fabrication on this engine, heater box, custom made coil, custom exhaust with header wrap, and custom flared aluminum exhaust tips. Engine is also "wired and plumbed" firewall is covered with aluminum as is the rear package tray in the interior.

Body was painted and clear coated with an automotive urethane clear, it was then cut and buffed.

You've done a lot of nice work to that body. I like the detailing on the engine. However I highly doubt you'll get the $2100 you're asking for it on eBay

Thanks, I may not get full price, that's why I added the "make offer" option... selling it to raise money for speech therapy for my 11 year old daughter, so I'm hoping for the best.

Beautiful work! Can I ask what shocks you are running on it? How did you get the sunroof to tilt up like that? What did you use to fill the rear windows? Would be nice to see some build pics

Thanks - what's the SBG forum? Do you have any pics of the sunroof setup? Where did you get the collars for the stock shocks? I tried some RC4wd shocks which fit nicely but they were crap and didn't provide any damping (tried to cut a slot in the piston so that it would flow oil through it)

See post below for the SBG forum. The shock collars are from a set of the RC4wd shocks if I remember right, I agree, I wasn't too impressed with those shocks..leaked like crazy.

I have been getting tons of questions about the sunroof setup, At this point, I don't think I can get a good shot of how it is put together, I told myself once the interior went in the body this last time, that it would not come back out...its very tight and scary to take in and out. So I think I am going to draw up some "plans" for the sunroof and post them for anyone who is interested.

Wow.. Nice Scorcher.. I love the detail you put in it.. Just amazing.. The Holley fuel pumps are so cool.. I remember putting one of those in a Datsun 510 I worked on years ago..

I really like the split rear window. I have a pre made resin part that is a real pain to fit and 'weld' to the rear window...
The black nose cone looks cool.
