old belts stretching

Post by Mr. ED »

I noticed this last winter on my yr4, and last weekend on my mx4: My belts are stretching. Both cars had not run for a while and got a good rework, setting the belt perfectly, no slack nor tension other than from their own weight. After a couple minutes running the belts are slack and never return to their old length.
It's very disappointing especially after all the work I've put in the mx4. Any ideas?

Are they both M3 pitch? If you get me the tooth count I'll see if I can get you some new ones

Yes,they are. When you say new, do you mean nos, or did you find a place that will cut custom width's?

Check this out, ebay item no. 182018308881 , if its any interest drop me a pm and we'll sort something out, it's been listed a few times now with no takers.
And for info' from the header card it seems to be 189 teeth.

I have a place that will do any widths but it's down to tooth count really but I'm sure in can help you out.

189 teeth it is then.
And I'd rather get a new belt than nos as I blame age, not wear.
