Found my old chargers and a NOS nicad pack.

Found my old chargers and a NOS 1400mah Nicad that I never used. I run a modern Onyx smart charger that does every style of battery so the old ones are eye candy and look good on the shelf. The battery I ran thru a double charge cycle and it works. It didnt fall on its face when I nailed the gold pan's throttle for several minutes on my stand. I have several Nimh batters that I normally use. But will be fun to see what this antique can manage. Mike the aspie

Can anybody explain the pros and cons/differences of Nimh and nicad. Can both batteries be charged using a Protec 702 charger? What would be best for running around the backyard (no racing)? Also, what mAh and volts would you recomended for putting...

Can anyone educate me on the industry lingo for the standard NiCad batteries used for the RC world (not LiPo). Specifically, I am interested in the Size or Classification of the battery (ie. AA C D, etc.). Also what is a reasonable price per cell...

alright, i'm finally gonna get myself some lipos. there's a couple chargers out there that i have my eye on, but would like to hear from some of you guys what you use, or what you have heard is a decent charger.

i know alot of chargers are ac/dc....

I use the 240 for my non lipo packs and it works great.

Only suggestion I would make about the 200 is if you go for the 210 for $10 more, you get the voltage/mah readout. Might seem trivial, but it is good info to know.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has accumulated a number of battery chargers while accumulating cars. I suspect that the copper on the transformers is worth more than most of these beat-up old timer chargers. I hate to throw anything away though....

i personally love the old chargers they are part of my collection as much as anything... electronics friggen rule! gents...cars motors batteries decals etc etc..cant get enough minus the dodgey gear goes without saying. 8)

Yeah, for 48 hours I don't think it'd be a problem at all. And as far as I understand it, for longer term storage you should leave them at ~half charge.

At the track I had asked what those guys do week to week... most finish their run and leave...

just make sure the heat shrink isn't to thick, there is some thick stuff out there that makes the packs abit to big. Ask me how I know ;)
