Yokomo Pink Wheel Fade

Post by GWXP »

Hi all,

Has anyone attempted anything to bring the faded colour back to life?

Thinking of lots of ideas in my head but surely this has been covered before?

The inner wheel under where the tire was in perfect, the outside is faded as you would expect..

Thanks

Hi Peter,

Maybe a lathe? Polish? light sand?

Nobody has tried?

You could get some rit dye fuscia and start with a small amount of dye and adjust to get as close as you can to unfaded part of the wheel.

Yeah I have tried that and it did work bit like restoring headlights/tail lights on a car I suppose might be much easier to try the dye method though?

I have an 870c with a set of faded pink rims just like the ones mentioned above.... i actually quite like the weathered 'patina' if you can call it that. The contrast between the outer face of the rims and the inner wheel area looks kinda cool in my eyes. There are plenty of new, unfaded Yokomo rims about so to me it seems a shame to remove the history of the faded ones. I have a set of orange Pro Radiant wishbones with a similar amount of fade when compared to a new set.

Just my opinion, but i would leave them exactly as they are and use them!
