Ronbos MR4BX runner

Post by Ronbo »

While asking for compatible parts for my Yz10/870, I was approached with this deal on Facebook group. A used standard MR4BX with a TON of parts. One way diff, shock parts, arms, bearings, an extra body etc, to name a few. Worth it to me, and I got a little excited. I got the car, and it needs some TLC cleanup, but super thrilled with the parts support and the design of this chassis. It does have a rather worn original box, but intact.
My plan is to set it up for 13.5T class and run alongside my FT B4.2 and T4.1 once a month.
Going with Masami colors and maybe Neil Cragg. More to come...

Started clean up and changed up the stock 10mm hexes to 12mm. I first used AE for fronts and buggy rears to see how it looked and fit. Fitment was really good, but I decided to order some 5mm yokomos like in picture. I ended up with 5mm shims on front and put the blue stock spacers in rear for shimming. The AE buggy F/R are better, they are on my RC10B3 Masami to run modern tires until I convert back.

Here is the box and all the parts that I got when buying this car. I finished up front to back cleaning the car and replaced a couple bearings in the hubs. Ive got more bearing sets coming, plus the bearings in the stash of parts. Tires are for carpet, I have several for clay.
The more I look at this car, the more I like the design and layout vs newer models or even what this one replaced. I do have a special package coming from HK via ebay, but its on the slooooow boat....

I am experimenting with yeah racing front universals for Tamiya 501-DB01. I got Tamiya buggy adapters, but they still don't go all the way on the shafts. so unless I modify part number 54669 to fit, would be nice to have the right hexes. The yeah racing universals fit perfectly in front. In back, ill find something I guess. Reason is I read that the stock non hardened units don't last long.

This body Im going with Neil Craggs for both this shell and My B4 circa 2006/07. Since his scheme isn't too complicated for me to recreate I feel. But the worlds body that is coming eventually I will attempt Masamis scheme. Since MCI has decals for it.

Well look what arrived from overseas earlier than was projected. Since no where have I seen pictures of the contents of this Worlds conversion kit, here they are in case the Yokomo timeline is updated when mid 2000s is the new vintage.. .

Hey,

I’ve just completed a New Worlds parts build as well. I am stuck with the Hex’s I see you changed to 12mm. What parts did you end up using ?

It’s a great peace of engineering.. ! Like the modern Schumacher’s only 15 + years old. Way ahead!
Cheers

I ended up with 5mm yoke hexes front and rear. I will probably work more on it this winter. Body is painted, electronics in and mostly set, but i havent got the undertray ready.
