Well I have finally acquired an optima mid to convert into this FF car. I've been wanting to do this for a while so I figured I'd make a thread for it. I've gathered a bunch of images to build the car off of and will post my progress!

Last night I had some time to mock up some of the stock parts in the form of fwd to make sure all the front suspension can be transferred to the back. It transferred flawlessly I am working on making some 3d printed prototype parts like the shock tower today.

I got a shock tower printed I am happy with the design, but I need to lower my printer heat. If any of you guys know a good place to get things made in carbon fiber I will be looking soon. I already know a guy for aluminum but his machine can't do carbon fiber.

Yeah the rear arms are next on the list. My plan is get everything made with the 3d printer to ensure it will work before I make the final parts. I also plan on uploading all the files to thingiverse for anyone else that wants to do this as well. I know many people like these FF cars and I'd like to make it easy for people to access the 3d files for them.

Got some more work done, I have a design for the chassis and the rear arms with all of their brackets. The arms them self still need some tweeking but they are close. I also have a design for the top plate as seen it this picture I found.

Almost got a rolling chassis done! Once I get the roller done I can start making final parts.

I long ago made a fwd touring car out of a mid/spider. But your buggy is way cooler. Keep it up

Got the roller done I'm pretty happy with it so far. I just have some losi wheels on there for right now. I've seen this car with yokomo wheels on it and I've seen it with normal wheels let me know which you guys think I should go with. I've got a day lined up to make the chassis in aluminum so it should be ready soon.
