With regards to gearing, I can try to help if you need a starting point, I just need to know what motor is in there and the number of teeth on the spur.

The futaba 9551 is my favourite servo, great choice

Cheers

Thanks for the kind words. It has been fun and gruelling build at the same time. The time in shipping to receive parts added considerable time to the build. The last package of parts took a month to arrive.

Is it really an SRT.... or is it just a glorified Rustler.... or does it lie somewhere in between, lol.

The motor is a Hobbywing G4 17.5T which I set the timing to a semi aggressive 5.5 amps. The spur gear is 76t and the pinion 23t which is a conservative FDR of 8.99 to let the motor rev out a bit if I went a bit too aggressive on the timing. If it doesn't get too hot I can gear up and/or add more timing, or if it gets too hot I can reduce timing. I figured that would be a reasonable starting point to try, at least in my mind anyways, lol.

Here's a little mod that I did to overcome the sloppy hinge pin holes in the +/- 1 degree mounts to give myself some tuning options. Very simple but it works.

Nearly finished the truck tonight, just gotta decal it up and it's pretty much done :D

I dug this thing out.....

And many many more thanks again to Chris (1300GT) for making me some spring collars to adapt the AE springs to the Traxxas shocks. I originally tried to find Losi springs but they aren't the easiest to find anymore. Thanks Chris !

Shocks installed on the truck..... The Traxxas shocks are actually pretty good and super smooth. I think the T6 rear springs are quite a bit softer than conventional springs so I ended up using a harder spring then I was expecting, but overall it feels good. The truck feels SUPER plush and I'm hoping is a traction magnet. The chassis sits really nice and feels and looks just right.

Truck is done !!

I still need to glue the tires and set camber etc but it's done. Overall I think it turned out pretty good, it's as close to box art as I can get it.

That's come up a treat, RJ.... you should be well pleased with the result.

Will be a shame when I crash into it on the weekend.... so try and avoid my mobile chicanery ;)

Thanks Alex, It has only taken me what, a year and a half to gather up all the parts? It might give you great pleasure putting a great big dirty scratch on it   Looking forward to it though, going to be a fun full on weekend.

It's going to be a pretty big event, 3 days worth of vintageness. I don't have face tubes but apparently this is the place where you find all the info.

Well we're gonna need a couple of "spy shots" from the pits and......just some pics. I am not on Face**** either. So, just a few pics, here, especially Bormac's TRX-1, if possible. Pretty please. :P
Hope you're doin' something fun.

I have to say that RJ's truck looked awesome in the flesh at the Bash.... and his performance was a standout for me, from a pretty awesome weekend of racing, chatting, and talking poop.

Was great to finally meet the guy, after we've given each other so much carp over the years on here!

Such a brilliant weekend.... thanks for making the effort RJ, was very much appreciated!

:D
