Non-inline steering blocks still available?

Post by MelvinsArmy »

Are the non-inline original version RC10 front steering blocks still available? I could only find the inline versions on Tower. I have two old white pairs and one black pair, but I'm building a runner that will have these blocks and wouldn't mind finding getting a few spares if they're still available new.

Part number 6216 - steering blocks - are hard to find. I run them and have a couple spares but my supply is getting low!
I don't know if anyone else out there has a wall full of these, but if they do I would hope they can step forward!!

Edit: rcflyer1984 had some FS in another post. I pm'd him about them a while ago but have not heard back.....

Why not use the inline ones when you're all out of the others?

Then you have to change axles too. I like my CRP ones that let me run Tamiya fronts, but I can still go back to the original RC10 axles easily.
Can you do that with the inline ones? If so, clue me in!! ;)

Exactly. Nope, there's no switching. I don't know of any inline axles that will fit Tamiya bearings.

me neither. the only option would be to use the bearing adapters.

Are those some kind of shim or something? I don't think I've heard of that.

You could maybe try adapting the axle/steering blocks from a tamiya hornet/wildone.

Was a long time ago now, but I remember guys running these BITD to allow inline axles and the use of tamiya fox front rims.

They are plastic inserts that go in the Tamiya wheel and the RC10 wheel bearing fits inside. I have a few somewhere, but to me it's akin to running plastic bearings. I've run the CRP stubs since 1986 or so without issue, so why change now!

Well, maybe because I can't find any 6216 blocks....

Here's a link to those bearing adapters:

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXN055&P=M

Associated also produced 5/16"-to-11mm adapters in white plastic and they were even included in some of the earlier RC10 kits. I had some in my parts box for years before I knew what they were. Not as good as matching the axle to the bearing, but they'd work in a pinch.

I've also been looking for those 6216 blocks in black for my Andy's monster truck build, but haven’t found any yet. Andy’s only made their 11mm monster truck axles to fit those blocks.
