FW06 Kyosho Corvette (Non-Vintage)

Post by mrlexan »

I know it's not vintage, but I love it, so I had to post to share my excitement. The proportions on the FW06 are much better than it's big brother. Me REALLY likey! I would love to see it go head to head with the FW06 Aston just like at Le Mans. Very cool!

They do look really good, and in the flesh even better.
But I like old school muscle

You left out the most important about seeing them in the flesh.... the sound!

Dude, new or old.... they all pretty much sound the same. However, I would say the C6R sounds a bit more refined as opposed to the piston slapping of the ole, but I know what your response will be to that.... "exactly my point"

Other somewhat recent awesome sounders: 1. Panoz LMP 2. Olds Aurora R&S MKIII (a bit older)

Dude, trust me, they do..... you would be surprised. The Panoz used to hit your right in the chest, the Vette is very close.

I had this 67 427/435 HP from 1979 to 89 and will attest to the the one of a kind sound that came from the side pipes when you got the motor over a certain rpm(4000?) the other 2 of 3 2 barrel carbs kicked in and that's when you held on for one heck of a ride. I used to put racing gas in because it was the only gas that still had the octane rating and lead that made it run right. At $3 a gallon back then it wasn't economically feasible to just pull out to pass 1 car so I only did 4 to 5 cars to make it worthwhile. My kids have lots of stories to tell about the fun(at least I thought so) we had with this car. I took a stupid pill in 1989 and accepted what I thought then was an ungodly offer of 3 times what I paid for it.

The Panoz LMP (watch the whole thing, the end give the best feel of sound, again not in person): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U86lf-LRXiE

The R&S MKIII... this guy doesn't even have it opened up in the slightest bit, no where near what it can sound like. I remember this thing WAY up in the RPMs running around Daytona during the 24 hours of Daytona, 1995 or 1996ish. It sounded so awesome:

for me, cars need to sound good at idle. hence bbbrump..bbbrump from my earlier post. a lot of cars sound good when they're on it.

nice vette, al. my dad has a 66 coupe. 327/350 4sp, factory side exhaust, all numbers matching.

That R&S sounds sweet, but the tranny whine kind of drowns the motor out. Straight cut gears are pretty cool too though
