Any suggestions on what kind of ESC Motor combo I should be running for my RC10 DS?
As of now, I am looking for brushless and non-censored. I will not be competing, will be running on asphalt and plan on using a LiPo battery.
Here is what I am...

I put the RR idler gear, Dhawk Diff gear, and b4 topshaft with VTS slipper in my stealth. It handles the power from the 3800kv motor just fine. Even when I ran it on 3S and 47/69 gearing. That ended up with the stealth running at 30,000 rpm; it's a...
Hopefully someone here is running this ESC and Software and can help me out.....

This is the USB Progammer --
You download the software from the ESC page down below under the Files tab. I can d/l it no problem, but...

the stock FW is designed to provide more boost to the smaller motors (higher number of winds). It's like turbocharging small blocks, you have to know what you're doing otherwise you might regret it. the mod fw is more geared towards the more...
I'm rebuilding an old 10T with my boys(4 and 6). I want to go brushless with it and was wondering if a 21.5 turn would have too little power. They're both already driving RCs. They run a 17.5 now without problem in a buggy. I just came across a good...

21.5 is around RS-540 speed. I thought it was a good fit for my 4 year old. One thing I noticed (at least for my kids) is that if you reduce power, they don't seem to notice and have just as much fun and you won't have to fix the car as often.
So I have a servo that for some reason when in the car wont center. when I pulled it out afterwards, it centers again. any ideas whats going on?
its a LHS ls-500 bb mg servo
im already replacing it with a savox servo but it still seems like its...

yep, could be binding in the suspension. also, load the servo with your fingers while you exercise it on the bench, and see if adding some load to it prevents the centering. usually bad centering is the travel potentiometer. you could disassemble...
I have the Airtronics 2.4Ghz FHSS-2 3CH Receiver -MX-4 .. I think I'm held to Airtronics only receivers.. I have the RX37w that goes for around 48 bucks.
Is there another maker that has fhss-2 that work with the MX-4 ? I have a Flysky radio and...

Yea my search came up with nothing. You have to use the AirTronics only. Got one from Ebay for 40. The last one I got from Amain for 49 when they came back in stock.
OrangeRx GR300 dsm receivers are they any good, I have a spektrumsr3500 around my house but cannot find it and its driving me nuts. So I'm looking on ebay and came across this OrangeRx GR300 dsm receiver for $20.00. Anyone use one? Any thoughts on...

You are correct on all that, send it in!!
Well worth it. Might be a few bucks, what look at what you get in the long run.
Theese will be my first lipo batteries ever and I just want to make sure I'm getting the right ones.
Will be going in an original RC10T,thats running Reedy XP esc and Reedy 3300 motor.Other car is a original worlds car also running the same reedy...

hopefully for not to long, they used ot have some good deals on them and decent multiple battery buy packages. they started doing it 4 or 5 years ago. but havent looked in a while.
So I'm looking at savox servos and I noticed that I'm seeing servos with the exact same part numbers as those from turnigy. there arent many exact matches but they are all close to each other through the whole line. Can anyone one say whats going on...

you will find similarities across the savox and the turnigy portfolios in many places...
: these two are not the same - they only share their name.
Finally had to ditch the old Protech! Lol! This charger will charge anything I will ever own, but it's going to take me a while to remember all this charging crap!

Anyone know how to use one of these? Lol
Lots of bells and whistles but sure don't feel as good as an old magnum
I think that's the first time I've ever said magnum and feels good in the same sentence lol
RC10 Graphite with stealth trans 2.25 , 81/21. Car used on street and off road messing around, no track. This is the combo im looking at. Not looking for max speed.
Just finished my parking lot basher and i need to know the screw size to mount a reedy3300kv in my gold pan. It is different threads then all the screws I have.

Standard 3x6 or 3x8 mm screws. (basically every rc motor is 3mm thread.
I apologize in advance for the generality and newb-ness of a question like this but I don't really have the off-road RC experience to know whats what. I'm going brushless, lipo, etc in an RC10 runner build and I'm ready to order a motor. I will go...

Thanks for the replies, I did wind up ordering a 10.5. It sounds like it'll have all the potential I could want, I figure I can gear it 'slow', see how it runs and go from there.
I just installed this ESC, in my recently build RC10WC, coupled with a reedy 17.5T mach2 540 motor and I have the following 2 issues which I am hoping someone could help answer for me:
1. The forward and reverse were reversed. Any way of...
Anyone NOT have it sticking out of the body? For some reason I feel they are very fragile (had one break from the receiver body already) and a friend rolled his and ruined the antenna and lost reception. Old school stuff took the abuse. Also...

my spectrum receivers are just standard bell wire antennas. Most of the time I route antenna with a 4inch tube if I can.
Not sure how 2.4 works but I imagine its like anything else digitally transmitted. Transmitter sends high frequency microwave...
Mk-zero has a valid concern though. Yes the side has graduated measurements, but the device really needs to have an adjustable down stop in order for it to be truly accurate. Otherwise one will be eyeballing all of the springs measured with regard...
A rather simple question,
If the motors are mostly equal, say both are for stock class, will the same battery pack last longer with the brushless motor or will the run time be the same.
I'm asking because, 1) I read that brushless is more efficient,...

I've just got the new r10.1 and I have the old orion program box, I know that it will work but won't open up all the features apparently. My question is I have the new Skyrc 6 in 1 box am I right in assuming that this will work in the same way as...

As the title says, are there any downsides to buying shorty LiPo packs? I'm pretty new to LiPo batteries and have them figured out well enough, but I'm having a hard time understanding something. If a battery pack can be made to do the same job in a...

The lighter weight of the shorty battery will have less weight on the tires creating a smaller contact patch for less traction, also there is less overall weight transfer (but faster) during braking/acceleration/turning. But pretty much everything...
Since most sensored systems only spin one way and most competition ESC's don't allow you to change motor rotation - what would happen if you swapped A and C and wired the sensor cable backwards?
I assume the timing would be backwards/retarded and...
Last post
If the motor timing is set to zero and the A and C sensor wires in the sensor lead are swapped over, then the motor will run backwards the same way it would run forwards. The only problem is that not all motors will give you true zero timing, and if...
Ok I have a 2c Zippy 4000mah lipo with a Reedy brushed motor and an LRP V1 runner. I'm using a MRC 965 charger for balance charging. Also have a low voltage alarm. The combo worked flawless for last two weeks until today. I charged the battery for...

Ok guys figured out the problem. I had the deans plugs soldered backwards on charger and esc ,so the battery wires we're also plugged in backwards. Once I fixed my MRC charger balance charged for along time it eventually had both cells almost...
Hey I bought a new 8.4 for my rc10 b4 and it runs slower than my 7.2 battery. I tried the battery on other cars and it works fine. Can anybody help me with what's going on?

Ok so tried a lipo in this car and all I can say is WOW,this thing is crazy now,I can see why you all suggest lipo
boys and girls,
I was thinking of buying a saddle pack for an old school 4wd car I'm building, but I was looking around at the batteries I already have and I found I have 2 almost new (same brand, same type) of 1S packs from my now sold 12th scale...

Nothing wrong with using those 1s packs together. Same effect as saddle pack.

Just my $0.02, but in lightweight buggies, I like the high speed shorty servos. The Savox SC1251 is excellent, but if your budget doesn't quite allow for $65, I've also been very happy with the HD series that Atomik RC slings on their eBay store. I...
So just wondering if anyone on here has used the Hobbywing 90A V2.1 esc and how they like it?
Last post
Stick to the genuine article if you can, the 90 is good but if you can afford it get the 120. I've used both the V2.0 and V2.1 120A ESC's without trouble, and the V3.1 which is amazing.
What´s the main differences between the V3.1 and the older...
I recently picked up a b44 roller and got an Airtronics mt4 telemetry radio and receiver for it. Has anyone mounted a speed sensor on a b44, I don't really see any good place to mount it, even if I make a little bracket? For the temperature sensor,...

The speed sensor is cool, it transmits what ever light it needs. The radio system came with reflective tape, I just put a little strip of it on the drive cup. Then you have to position the sensor to within about 1mm of the target. To calibrate it,...
Hi all, I'm trying to find the thread that talked about the Spektrum-compatible Rx's from other companies. Can anyone point me in the right direction please and thanks?

Right now I'm standardized on DSM2 as there's RXes available.

FYI, the older DX3S is NOT DSM2 compatible...ask me how I know
hint...it needs the little orange ground/marine/dsm2 sticker on the back :(
But I was able to...
I finally took the plunge and bought some LiPo batteries and charger. I think these exact items are scattered around here in other threads, but I thought I'd post what I bought in one place in case others want to do the same thing. I'm just bashing,...

My $0.02........
I have played with A LOT of servos, all over the price spectrum, and ranging extremes in speed and power.
At this time, my preferences for 1/10 2WD steering servos are the Savox 1251 and the HD8305TG from Atomik. The Savox is...
Are any of you guys running Apple/Mac computers? I'm new to programmable ESC's and all of the stuff I'm reading refers to PC or Android.
Is out there anything for Apple guys?

I run Windows 7 through Parallels on my Mac. Tekin, SpeedPassion (HobbyWing should be similar) and Castle interfaces work perfect. Also have no issues running Novak's Sentry data acquisition.
Im way confused on 540 vs 550 size motors and the power output of each and hope you can help! My questions are based on me and a friend wanting to build a 1/10 straight line top speed car.
Here are some specs we found on a couple 540 and 550 size...

Also the extra torque allows you to gear to the moon,540 would depending on how long you want to run for in minutes theoretically will not like a small final drive an will get to a number where there is no potential for more speed due to heat.. If...
I see its relatively easy to find an ESC capable of handling 8s for trucks/buggies etc. But I'm not finding any 550 motors capable of handling 8s without going to a heli or plane motor. Any suggestions? I'm trying to build a horizontal missle!
Last post
why not go a heli or plane motor? or even a boat motor...those things are made for 100% throttle/load all the time.
They don't have to deal with the extremely heavy low RPM loads, and are not designed to. In a plane or boat, there's practically no...
I want to put a re-release rear bulk head into my rc10t so I can run a taller lipo.
Does anyone know the size of the new bulkhead? I just ordered 3 for my projects and want to order some lipos. Maybe a 3s. Any suggestions?
I currently run a Turnigy...

you know what..... it is actually. just looked at one of mine and it's like 1mm taller. add that to the bottom being cut out, you get 2, maybe 3 mm more height out of it.
I got a new Associated B4.2 RS RTR and my boy got a new associated T4.2 RS RTR.
My boy's truck will go in reveres most of the time but not all and my buggie will not go in reveres at all.
Are these radios junk, should I look into something else?...
Last post
You may need to play with trims, or adjust neutral range.
There's nothing wrong with the XP2 or XP3 2.4 GHz systems, they're actually pretty decent for RTR stuff. Certainly not as good as a Futaba or Airtronics, but not bad.
So I have a Hitec 645MG servo on the way along with a castle sidewinder & 3800kv motor . Just wondering if I should also be thinking about replacing the old original steering bellcrank with something different than the factory plastic parts...? I...
