Just sent through a friends request plus a msg with a couple of pics of this build.
Can't wait to catch up for a chat :-)
Well, I was able to reunite my Mid last night to an old friend. We havent seen eye to eye in a few years and I kinda look at it as a peace offer. He was quite excited to see it and even more so to now own it. Did you ever have any luck with finding your old friend JM?

I did find his FB page but it seems he is not very active on it. I have sent a msg just waiting on a reply.

I just found this great thread. What a stunning car you've built, I particularly like your sheer enthusiasm and relishing of the original design, and era of querky designs. I certainly share that appreciation for the pioneering attempts of the 80's buggys. I nearly bought one of these marwels some time ago, I believe it was a 2wd. Funny to see that your contact has a barnload of 2wd NIB's! That's nothing short of bizzarre! Was he a RC-dealer at one point?? Awesome.

The chassi layout of this car and it's diffs/suspension is almost like a pre notion of the shaft driven buggys of modern days. It certainly appears to have been designed with 1/8 buggys as model. SG made a Gas buggy for 1/8 racing called "Tiger". I think it had some resemblence. Very european car. Yankee Electra has a similar feel I think, but this is nicer.

The Coyote, the Electra, the Hirobo Jealousy etc. are some of the most special and interesting cars that really illustrate the caotic nature of the era right at the Big Bang of 1/10 racing buggies. They were all designed with the best of intentions and had a lot of interesting features, but they never took off in racing and soon went to hibernate in obosoleteville. They all deserve a glorius revisit like the one you've just done. Higly inspiring this stuff and very spot on!

Update****

A short while ago I did some looking around on Facebook and sent a message and friends request to my old pal. Finaly I got a response from him and he gave me a call this weekend just gone. Talk about 6 degrees of separation. As it turns out he now lives under an hours drive away so yesterday I drove up there with my little family for a reunion.

Ofcourse I had to take the SG up with me and he was blown away by everything. 17 years had gone by and while I knew we lived around 1000km's apart I had no idea he would now be so close by.

Showing him the SG all those memories of when we used to race(or atleast try to) came flooding back. It really was a great sight to see his face light up when he took the car out of its box.

The best part is that we are both glad to renew the old friendship once again.
Happy dayz!
