Re: Optima Mid Runner Budget Build
At the time, you could just buy the longer chassis, top plate and covers (I think) and stretch a standard optima mid. I bought all the parts, then soon after just bought a Mid Special (I think). I also have the Turbo Optima Mid Special (I get lost with all the versions) it's the one that came with t...

Re: Optima Mid Runner Budget Build
That's why they built the longer chassis Optima Mids. I've got one of the original mids, and 2 of the extended versions. Still have a full extended chassis and parts to extend a standard mid as well.

Budget friendly rx and tx
Ok, I've got the cars cleaned up and ready to go. Finally picked up a couple batteries and a new charger. Now it seems my old radios don't want to work. So, I need some budget friendly radios and receivers. I don't need anything more than simple 2 channel for the kids to play with. A stick style rad...

Re: UU's "Thundershot TRF Special"
Interesting repair. I have a plastic repair kit I picked up for the fairings on a bike a while back. Its uses plastic powder and acetone (or something like it) pretty much the same way. They even have a hard wax bar that you're supposed to soften and shape to make a temporary mold to re-make tabs an...

My original Optima Mid chassis was flat as far as I can remember.

Re: Lazer zx
I still have 2 of these cars that I got while in Japan. Most people remove the belt covers to reduce the drag. It lets in more dirt, but if you're racing, cleaning is usually part of the maintenance. I haven't heard of anyone removing the rollers, I'd think that would add to the drag on the belt. I ...

There's a place on the board to put those? Hm, didn't see that apparently.

Re: Resurrecting/Modernizing Your Vintage R/C's Electronics
I'm a little confused. BITD, less windings usually were faster? I need longevity in run time, would I go more windings? Yes, I can run lipo with my old stuff, but I'd need an LVA for each car, and really for my needs if I'm doing all that, it's be easier to just go with an inexpensive brushless/esc ...

Re: Resurrecting/Modernizing Your Vintage R/C's Electronics
Just checking to see if there are any updates to this thread. I'm thinking I'll modernize a couple of my old Tamiya's for the grand kids to bash around in the yard. I'm looking for long run times, but don't need high speed. From what I gather, going LiPo, I'll need new motor/esc combo and new radio ...

I bought my first while in Japan - when it first came out, I HAD to have it. Drove all the way to Hacinohe to get it. Still have it in its modified form, and now have a stock one and a crawler chassis.

I wasn't in love with it at first, but after some motor/pinion changes and some good tires, I was doing well with it.
