Re: Black fiberglass, G10 or what?

FR is flame resistant version of G10 which is Garolite material. NEMA is the regulating authority for FR-4 and other insulating laminate grades. Grade designations for glass epoxy laminates are: G10, G11, FR4, FR5 and FR6. Of these, FR4 is the grade most widely in use today. G-10, the predecessor t...

Re: Black fiberglass, G10 or what?

g10 or fr4 is another way to describe epoxy glass. Jeff basically described all that is commonly found on the internet easily. most places that sell composites/raw materials can order anything, but there are minimum orders. if the black is only on the top surface, or if you slice it and the fibers ...

Welcome to the forums Ryno, I am a fellow member of Chicagoland, albeit on the very outskirts of the 'burbs. Looking forward to seeing some pics of your build.

Re: B2 "Box Art" Build

Thanks Rod, that is what sent me down the rabbit hole to detail all the minute differences between the B2/B3 and even the differences in the re-release parts that may say B2 on them but really seem to be more geared towards B3 (like the top plate, etc.) Your chassis and top plate are B3 btw. ...

Re: Masami 1997 IFMAR World's B3 by slotcarrod

When you say "kit" car do you mean a box art replica or as is from the kit? Both the Masami car and the box art car are on my bucket list at some point. Seems you have a pretty nice Masami body that would be a shame to waste on a runner but then again doing something other than a 'Masami' ...

Re: B2 "Box Art" Build

Very small update... IMG_3568 2.JPG So as I started out last night I am already noticing quite a few differences on the couple of re-release pieces I had to purchase to make this build happen in a reasonable timeframe. On a tangent, I am now going to take my time to document the differences between ...

Re: B2 "Box Art" Build

I bet there is double the value of a NIB B2 in those bags! Looking forward to watching this build! 8) You are probably more than correct there Rod  The NIBs I am coming across (and don't get outbid on) just go to the shelf as is, I don't have the heart to disturb them, yet. I haven't b...

Re: Geting out.

Bump for common sense! Don't make the mistake of liquidating all your RC stuff, I guarantee you'll regret it. Like mentioned previously, RC shouldn't have a huge financial impact on purchasing a house, and once said house is purchased, you will want to fill your work area with RC

B2 "Box Art" Build

All of the recent B2 action has motivated me to add a B2 to my collection. The plan is to build a box art replica and I am excited to start my first "build" thread! I have sourced most of the necessary parts and tried to use "NOS" where possible (available). The ultimate goal wil...

Re: What your workstation looks like?

Hey folks, Lot's of motivation on this forum, I love it :!: I am in the process of reworking my basement to have some proper work area and storage areas. More pictures to come, but here are the workbenches I just completed today. Felt good to retire the card table I was using  IMG_3565.JPG I'll...

Re: - Early Edinger RC10 resto -

The last couple pictures you posted makes the car feel like a box art car to me, but if you already have one of those, maybe give the Curtis Husting RC10 manual replica a go. Either way, everything cleaned up well and looks great so far, looking forward to more progress! PS> What specific process di...

Re: Thinking of getting out of RC...mostly

Good advice from the folks here. Take it from a guy who lived and breathed RC from a pre-teen kid to his late 20's who decided when he got married and had his first house that it was a good idea to throw away (yes throw away!) all of his RC stuff. Now that I am back stronger than ever a day doesn't ...
