Re: Tamiya Buggy Champ - 2009 Reissue Rough Rider
... With a lighted magnification headset, no flaws can hide, which is why I'm constantly redoing things, can better see how bad things really are 8) Ah HA, there's your problem! A "lighted magnifier headset". Flaws don't exist if you can't see them so do yourself a favor and get rid of th...

Re: Tamiya Buggy Champ - 2009 Reissue Rough Rider
It irritates me to no end how Tamiya cans only provide enough paint for one small vehicle. If you need to paint something larger or correct any mistakes, you'll need to buy a second can.
Def not a fan but sometimes it's the only way to find the right color.

I admire your persistence. You keep after it until it's perfect.
I'll give my paint jobs one shot and just live with all the imperfections. If I try to repair my mistakes, I always make them look worse.
The wheels and tires look amazing!!

Re: The Kinwald Edition RC10 (it is here!)
What gear cover did Brian use? Will the kit supplied gear cover fit over a Hydradrive or should we order the repop from TBG? I'm not yet ready to build mine so I haven't yet opened the box nor have I rummaged around in the attic to find the Hydradrive. I'd like to get the cover ordered asap if it's...

Uh oh, what I miss?  I know the MIP cvds is one, but it at least has the cvas. I also didn't discuss trimming the wheels. Well, I thought your video was excellent and definitely plan to refer to it for my BK build! I'm amazed with all the tiny details; were there any parts that Brian di...

Re: a thread for BambuLab machines
Looking forward to seeing the pics! There's also a Dune Buggy and a Sand Rail in the Gdrive, that GoMachV uploaded, been thinking about giving one of those a print. Yes I've seen them. Both are very cool and I will print them one day. It will be a nice break to simply print a completed kit that's b...

Re: a thread for BambuLab machines
I've saved the largest and most complex parts for last on this project. This bed side required 11-1/2 hours to print -- but I think it was worth the time. With layer height set to 0.08mm, the layer lines are almost non-existent. A few passes with some 380 grit paper and they're gone. I probably cou...

Re: Tamiya Buggy Champ - 2009 Reissue Rough Rider
Since most of the body is blue, I'd probably shoot the white first. Not only will it require less masking, assuming you're applying paint directly over bare plastic or over white primer, the white will remain nice and bright and not tinted from the blue beneath it. Also, French Blue really pops when...

Re: The Kinwald Edition RC10 (it is here!)
Here's the awesome decal sheet included, for example: Lets make a Jay Halsey edition. It's a basic stripe paint scheme that anyone can do with masking tape and rattle cans - let's cover most of the body with stickers to replicate it. Lets make a Brian Kinwald edition. Its a drip pattern across the ...

That's excellent advice.
You can prime lexan with Tamiya PS-55 Flat Clear which will allow enamel to bond to lexan.

Re: QIDI Plus4 - 3D Printer
Thanks! I've heard/seen good things from Revell's chrome spray however I'll need to handle the parts to install them so it's probably not an option -- at least not for this project. BTW, I've received a reply from Alclad: Hello Doug I've contacted the distributor who supplies Maul's World there have...

Re: QIDI Plus4 - 3D Printer
That's a great looking dune buggy model. Glad I could help. Regarding the bus roof, yes it would require a lot of sanding and filling to make a terrace farm like that smooth. Key to minimizing layer lines is to tilt the part to around 45 degrees from the build plate. When it's time to print parts fo...
