Re: Finding a diff for the Axial SCX10 transmission
I was about to order the Tamiya gear diff assembly (54471) and it suddenly occurred to me that the diff gear and side plate assembly is almost certainly too wide to fit the Austar/Injora case. That case is very narrow and closely hugs the gears. :( Maybe the Tamiya ball diff (54306), with outdrive b...

Re: RC10 - A Stamp Rebuild - Chipped Idler Gear
I'm guessing that comment wasn't posted by Kevin Talbot. Actually, doing wheelies really isn't harmful. It's the sudden shock to the drive train from the tires losing then suddenly gaining grip under throttle as the car lands from a jump or drives over rough terrain that really tests the inte...

Re: RC10 - A Stamp Rebuild - Chipped Idler Gear
Found someone 3D printing the asc6614 gears for $10, many people have bought them, and no complaints, quite the opposite it would seem. https://www.ebay.com/itm/153727498232 Hmmm, that's interesting and thank you for posting a link but I'd have to pass on them. There's a lot of gear reduction ahead...

Re: RC10 - A Stamp Rebuild - Chipped Idler Gear
☝️ well put. Swapping six gear transmissions to 48 pitch pinion/spurs for off-road racing was also a thing back in the day. Previous owner looked like he came from the on-road/carpet world... foam tires, 64 pitch gearing, locked diff, etc... maybe his local carpet track built some ramps to bring in...

Re: RC10 40th Anniversary tracking thread
It's probably just me but I can't imagine buying a limited edition anniversary kit like this and not cracking it open to inspect the contents.

Re: RC10 - A Stamp Rebuild - Chipped Idler Gear
... I was not familiar with term or concept of diametral pitch, always had referred to them by tooth count in the past. I apologize for not making it clear in my earlier comment. There's an inverse relationship between diametral pitch (dp) and the actual size of the tooth. Thus, 32dp is a la...

Re: RC10 - A Stamp Rebuild - Chipped Idler Gear
I think 64dp gears are fine for relatively low power 1/12 pan car but I'd never run them in anything more powerful or heavy. Those tiny teeth don't offer a lot of shear strength. To keep your RC10 original and reliable, you'll want to use the white 32dp spur gear. For the differential to function, y...

Re: RC10 - A Stamp Rebuild - Chipped Idler Gear
The RC10 6 gear didn't include a slipper clutch. Many folks these days mistake the diff for a slipper - like those on the Stealth tranny.
Looks like you have 64dp spur and pinion.
That's a really nice clean survivor. You're lucky to find it.

Re: Who made the "off road stock" motor?
Thanks Chuck. I'd seen that thread as well but went ahead and posted the question hoping for further confirmation. I've also just found the subject motor listed in Lowgear's Ultimate Brushed Motor Guide - he indicates the motor was made by Yokomo: https://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=78&t=18...

Who made the "off road stock" motor?
The motor with a blue and chrome label that came with the original RC10.
There are no markings on the can or end bell and no reference to Reedy.
Was it made by Yokomo

Re: Rear Cab Body for AE RC10 B6 / B7 - FINALLY
That new body does look MUCH better. There's definitely a Kyosho vibe going on there.
Of course, the design appeals to us but I'd bet the younger racers will laugh and say it looks like grandpa's buggy. "Where's the moon hub caps and white wall tires?"

Re: Printed gears question
WHAT? 9 quid??
Do they think we're made of money??
I'm kidding, of course. Not a bad price for a low-volume custom machined part.
I'm very happy, Chuck, that you've found what exactly what you've been looking for.
