Was actually a pretty common occurrence to bend the gearbox plates.
When you service the rear transmission, you could always just straighten them with a rubber mallet on a hard flat surface.

Re: schumacher cat what a nightmare
Nah they are not that bad, once you get used to them. If you are building a runner, seal the belt covers up good and you hardly ever need to touch them.

My first RC car was a fox, it took about 8 hours to build. My first CAT, an XL, took about 20 hours.

BITD, "Watch me clear this table top jump"... picture procat on 7 cells with 13 quin motor, at a BMX track with a massive jump. Result, one kid sitting on his pushie on the top of the jump nearly getting his head taken off, cat clearing the jump by 10 feet landing on its' wing. Aftermath, ...

You could always try a switch mode UBEC like a lot of RC plane and heli guys use. Usually have a 5v or 6v option and can deliver 3 amps or more.

Re: Best Hop-Ups for Original Optima
For my optima, I raided the gearbox of an Ultima Pro for its' Hard anodized top gear, and also for its' external spur gear. The spur gear is 0.6 module, and the rear smaller gear is steel. Also running the Turbo Optima slipper gear, though really it is pretty archaic in the way it adjusts. It has a ...

Congrats!!! I love babies! Me too. Have to be cooked right though. Good stuff, hope mum is doing well. Kids.... punishment for having sex. Nah not really, they are great. I'm just glad we're way past the baby stage. We had three boys within 20 months. They're 12 (oldest) and 10 (twins) now.

Re: Question ? RC KIts nib
I'd also take a NIB SWB Cat.
Upon release they quickly became to 4wd, what the rc10 was to 2wd... The car to beat.
Revolutionary for their time. Actually, probably a bit too revolutionary until they tamed them down.

Some of those alloy bits are cool. Would look so much better if it had some sort of consistent colour theme, rather than being all over the place.

Re: Cliff LETT Cat XL pics need from 1987'
In the days of the XL cat, it was common practice to widen the front of the car by using 2 of the front shock uprights sandwiched together on each side. Maybe that is what was used with the shock mounting ears trimmed off on the inside? I'll get a scan or pic up later to better explain. Edit, it is ...

Re: Topcat/Cougar vintage race car.
Looks good Jason. 8) BITD I remember seeing a couple of Topcats for the first time at the Queensland titles. Funny things to watch go round corners, looked like the front end was having an epileptic fit. Pretty unfortunate that they didn't physically connect the suspension pushrods to the rocker arm...

Looks like an upgrade kit for the layshaft of a SWB/XL/XLS to be run in conjunction with the earlier integrator.
