Yeah the Lemans was the base model same as Astra, actually might of been the saloon version based on the Vauxhall Belmont.

Re: The V.K.R.I. (Vintage Kyosho Rebody Initiative)

A little info on the Astra body you have. It's based on this : http://www.gartrac.com/company/johnwelchastra.htm I was a Vauxhall mechanic back when these cars were being made, and the rally cross version that body was based on was a long way from the standard Vauxhall car. Oh, in case in non UK guy...

your memory must be better than mine :)

I did the SC-50 upgrade to my Beetle. transformed that car :) mind you this was 1985, and I didn't know much about cars then.

Hcp22 wrote:The Tomahawk was the first of the Circuit 1000 cars that had a differential :)
you sure?
Our Scorpions all had diffs.
The Beetle sacrificed the diff to make the car a little cheaper.

Re: Kyosho beetle rere

Seriously, neither car had a diff? Ive never owned either car so wasnt aware of that. I did have a turbo scorpion,, and that did have a diff. So, how was rear drive handled,, just locked solid? on the beetle it was just a solid drive piece yes. Sort of like a spool nowadays I guess. it pushed prett...

Re: Kyosho beetle rere

I had a Sand Scorcher as my first car, but first went off road racing with the Kyosho Beetle. I never thought there were any similarities at the time. except neither car had a diff. or slotted motor mount holes. ok, so now you mention it, a couple of things the same ;) but night and day in terms of ...

Re: Kyosho beetle rere

The nostalgia in me says awesome! The collector in me says for crying out loud please stop! I kinda agree with this, except re-releases are already a thing, so we might as well enjoy them. I bought a brand new Beetle from Scottish racing legend Jimmy Hamilton for £50, built it and raced it at the f...

Re: Ex Jon Leonard Cat 2000EC

http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=83550&id=2 I have the magazine article about his win somewhere, so it should be possible to recreate the body. I got the car from Jason Potter, he did also have the Keil cell Craig used, but he said they wouldn't charge, and to be honest shipping ...

I love the stories on ex racers cars like that.

I own the CAT 2K Craig Drescher used to win the Euros back in 94, it's also got some nice parts on it.

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion

He says "Interferes a little with the cover." Ha! Jesus. It means you WILL have to hack your cover up, be warned. The dust shroud is a part of the tranny as it supports the center shaft: The cover does not allow use of screws that 'stick up', and you can't use a slot for the flathead scre...
