Re: Is this an early CAT/ProCAT slipper assembly??
The Wasp slipper fitted their own layshafts, usually white machined from solid Nylon. I've got one fitted to my carbon tub Lazer ZX-R and a 2nd one spare. Their advertising made a feature of the ability to replace the spur gear without changing the slipper settings due to the use of an adaptor ring ...

Re: Porsche 959 - selling, what to do?
Well I've started my 959 restoration. Got some parts - NIP tyres, undertrays, antenna post (don't ask - previous one was badly bent), rear springs, dampers. Took the car apart, cleaned it, and have started rebuilding her. Chassis is in ace condition, a few more parts need replacing before I'll be ha...

Re: Fabiix 2000 - Mid Engined conversion from 1994
When i say to guys here that i came third in the B Final they all laugh. Till i say there was C,D,E,& F finals And more - UK Nationals go down to "L" finals - 120 drivers. Making anything below a D final means you're pretty decent at driving...sadly I've never made it below "F&qu...

Wet? :D I was racing against Joe in this heat at the Kidderminster National in 2007 - this is his car slightly off line in a corner - his car actually finished this race unlike 50% of the other racers..... http://www.oople.com/rc/photos/kidderminsternational2007/kid130507/bigimages/OOP_6325....

Re: Fabiix 2000 - Mid Engined conversion from 1994
I do know the U.K weather is mostly bad and a lot of racing was done in indoors ........ I do know the some U.K factory Losi drivers have been playing with a Mid Motor XXX conversions quite a few yrs back. LOL! I wouldn't say our weather is mostly bad, more like 50% of the time :D Seriously, last y...

Re: Fabiix 2000 - Mid Engined conversion from 1994
Excellent, cheers for the photos, they answer a lot of questions. Sounds like the drivers got on well with it, wonder why it wasn't more popular.
Cheers,
Ian
P.S. Mr. Ed, I was right about reversing the layshaft.

Re: Schumacher Cougar Rebuild ?
The rear bulkhead on my TopCat didn't have those two ribs either side of the central 'lump', nor the notch for a battery bar... i'm not sure if this bulkhead would have carried over into the early Cougar kits or whether your 'revised' bulkhead came on all Cougar1s? The improvements to the rear bulk...

Re: Schumacher Cougar Rebuild ?
Left hand diff is an aftermarket MMS diff, stronger than the standard diff (the one on the right hand side of the photo) and machined so always run true. The standard Schumacher diffs could come out the mould tool non-round which made it impossible to get a smooth running transmission. The centre di...

Re: Fabiix 2000 - Mid Engined conversion from 1994
Just noticed Jeroen's car has the gearbox the opposite way round from the car in the advert, so you're probably right, must the the "contra rotation" version shown. I don't have a problem jumping mid-engined cars, if anything my MCS is better over jumps than the RB5 as that nose dives all ...

Re: Fabiix 2000 - Mid Engined conversion from 1994
I'm pretty sure the Fabiix didn't use an extra idler gear as it's not shown in the conversion kit photograph. I'm sure Jeroen can confirm this?Mr. ED wrote:normal rotation moters would require a 4th gear or other solution to make the car run forward as it is pictured in the ad above

Re: Fabiix 2000 - Mid Engined conversion from 1994
Having recently seen Euro Champ Lee Martin throw his rear motored Tamiya 201 around a track in front of the mid motored competition i'm not convinced that Midship 2wd is better  Lee will be awesome with anything.....down at my (club) level of driving I've been swapping between a Kyosho RB5 an...

Re: Fabiix 2000 - Mid Engined conversion from 1994
This ad already mentions 2 designs: for standard and contra rotation so maybe they already gave that ascpect some thought "Contra-rotating motors", what is that about? Obviously I know they run in reverse compared to normal motors but the only brushed motors I knew of that did that were t...

Re: Fabiix 2000 - Mid Engined conversion from 1994
To be honest from i understand the concept was great back than but couldn't produce the rear grip that 2wd needs. In the add it stated a slightly damp track which would of helped the design a lot.Now with better C.A.D technology , suspension set up and the most important tire advancement it seems t...

Re: Fabiix 2000 - Mid Engined conversion from 1994
Knew Jeroen had one, I photographed the magazine (RRC Feb '95) for him & then thought others might be interested, don't think he's ever raced his though (might be wrong there).
Did Fabiix ever make anything else?

Fabiix 2000 - Mid Engined conversion from 1994
Thought I would share these pictures of the Fabiix mid engined conversion for the Schumacher Cougar 2000 from 1994/5 - not sure how well known this chassis is as it's pretty rare. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who used to race one. Cheers, Ian http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii225/minicha...
