Re: New Optima-based Build

Made some more progress today. Got the steering servo in, battery mounts installed and an additional chassis stiffener behind the spur gear. At this pace, I may actually get to test run it (sans body) this weekend!

Re: Turbo Rocky restoration

That's a really great restoration! Nice job!!

I have always liked both Rockys and have a pair that need their own restorations. I think the Turbo variant is definitely scarce, especially in the US. As far as I know, it was never formally distributed here via the usual channel, i.e. Great Planes.

Re: 3d Printed Body Molds

I don't know exactly what the pros use, but here's my materials experience in vacuum forming... Thermo/vacuum forming requires a rigid, tough material with a low coefficient of thermal expansion, as well as the ability to withstand cyclical 400F+ temperatures. As polycarbonate cools and shrinks, it ...

It's coming along well and I've already seen a few things that can be improved. The chassis side pieces ...

Re: So who also collects Lego?

That's fantastic; very nice build! Are the rock star minifigs custom?

I have the diner set too, siting NIB. I might need to build that one after Stranger Things, which arrived yesterday. I need more time!!! :D

Notre Dame interior, September 2016. Such an incredible place. I hope it can return to form soon.
