Re: Picture of the day. (Taken by you)

No such thing as a $200 auto repair.

That said, I don't see anything remotely close to a $2000 repair. Unless, they are using all OEM parts.

Re: Picture of the day. (Taken by you)

After my heart with the clean install, nicely done JC :D This is what used to be there. When I initially did the stereo in this truck, I reused a lot of stuff that I already had. I also integrated the factory Sync radio in with it. Screenshot_20240429_064453_Photos.jpg My factory radio started acti...

Re: Picture of the day. (Taken by you)

Got the D4S amp and crossovers mounted behind my seat.

I reused the mounting posts from my old setup by using some Kydex sheets.

Re: RC10 graphite chassis #2: odd front end

Here, you can see where my chassis has been clearanced. You probably don't need that much, I simply cleaned up what someone else had previously done. Screenshot_20240427_161918_Samsung Internet.jpg Here, you can see where I notched the body to clear the chassis. It looks like a lot but it really isn...

Re: TQ10 resto

It's a dang miracle. 26 days bouncing around Atlanta and they survived. 20240426_203216.jpg I once had a TBG body go missing for months. He ended up refunding my money. He was having trouble getting materials at the time, so it was about three months before I was able to reorder. Then, both showed ...

Re: Vintage Edinger motor stopped working

The Tamiya Dirt Tuned motor is 27T. But it would be a shame to part out a nice motor.

Re: Vintage Edinger motor stopped working

I don't recommend the YouTube sandpaper method. What is the you tube sandpaper method? Sounds a lot like something I would try. What's wrong with it? It is basically wrapping a piece of sandpaper around the comm and twisting the armature. It is very crude and inconsistent. You can't correct highs a...

Re: Vintage Edinger motor stopped working

You should be able to look through the brush slot and get an idea of the comm condition. You can use a fiberglass pen through the slot and turn the motor to remove carbon buildup. If you don't have the tools to true the comm, I wouldn't bother trying to remove it.I don't recommend the YouTube sandpa...

Re: Vintage Edinger motor stopped working

Those brushes are shot. There probably isn't any spring tension on them.

If you wanted a six gear, short arm car, with so-so tires.

Not that it's that bad, but it verifies any time that I change data connection. Wifi at home, different data boosters at work.

Re: Vintage Edinger motor stopped working

It's ancient. The brushes are probably shot and the comm has probably seen better days. And it was far from high-end to begin with. But with a restoration it's nice to have work, ya know? If you have a comm lathe, you can carefully knock the motor apart and rebuild it. I've saved a couple of them.
