Re: Scr8p's shop
Hey Scr8p, have any of your cars ever made it up to the Woodward Dream Cruise in the metro Deetroit area? Your fine work would be right at home.

Re: Are people thinking about rc performance all wrong today
One thing to work on for the lightweight approach is unsprung weight/mass. Mainly the tires & rims I assume. In general as the sprung/unsprung mass ratio goes down getting the suspension to work becomes more problematic. Since all performance depends on those 4 little contact patches it might be...

Re: Insomnia + Boredom = A JRX Pro SE
The world is simply a better place with another sweet SE around. The 5 links are way cool, but this is a significant model for it's impact on other brands, always one of my favs.

Re: 1st jrx-t toy
That’s an interesting mix of parts. Early JRX2 buggy chassis, later front swept back arms, H arm rear conversion, later rear shock tower (IIRC), aftermarket steering set up with flipped servo. Funky front inner camber link spacer set up (are the carriers flipped side to side from what is norm for th...

Re: Are people thinking about rc performance all wrong today
Surprised no one has mentioned the shorty Losi lipo pack (and others now coming along) that some are running, plus lipos are lighter to begin with than the round nickel thingies (at least I didn’t notice if anyone did mention). Although the top Losi guys appear to be going back to full size packs. I...

Re: Novak t4 speed control
Define short circuit – The positive battery and positive motor leads should be a short, essentially the speedo controls power from the negative side of the circuit. Tekins generally use 3 wires because of this, they run a positive wire directly from battery to motor, the speedo taps into that with a...

Re: CM-10 Electronic Speed Control Early 1980's
On resistance is just that, how much resistance the unit adds between the battery and the motor at full on throttle. A lower number is better, closer to just a direct wire, less voltage & power loss. Don’t remember offhand what a good number for that era is (but I think that number is reasonably...

Re: Brushless ESC with an old school Futaba Radio
I've used a '80s KO EX-1 with a brushless Novak GTB 17.5 deal briefly, seemed OK. Have heard of issues with really hot motors though, apparently there is a possibility of too much electrical noise with the higher currents.

The Wayback machine suggests the IPC Digital V6 from April of ’99: http://web.archive.org/web/19990423143357/http://www.rc10.com/shusting/cataloghub/LRP/lrpothersp.htm The IPC V7.1 apparently shows up around August of ’99, and remains at least through early 2001. http://web.archive.org/web/199908281...

Re: What percentage of your collection actually runs?
Most run. Mine are rarely purty enough to be shelf queens, so not much choice… About 62% are full runners, including my most Vintage buggy, truck, and only pan car, all fully period correct (late ‘80s – early ‘90s). Several current racers and a few play thingies. Of the rest half are within a ...
