RC104ever wrote:I'm curious about the steering setup and tie rods- what did you use and what size ball cups are those?
The ball cups are the standard rpm ones for associated etc. I tapped the holes in the tamiya axles with a 4-40 tap and used a long associated ball studs.

Re: Super A&L MIP SRB

I love it in all black but I also like the earlier yellow/orange parts version, equally lovely. BTW, was the wheel base increase?? or follow the old SRB one? how about the width now front and rear?? The wheelbase is about 3mm longer than my rc10 in short wheelbase mode and the front end is a RCH ha...

j-sou wrote:I like it too! You're off to a good start. I've got no prob with mixing up parts for a cool build. The other night I started piecing together an srb base car with an SP1 trans.
You will have to post the pics of that soon. I love anything old srb!

which rims did you use ?
They are JC racing RC 10 rims with 5x8 bearings for the front wheels.

Also, I extended the front axles with axle extenders for monster truck wheels from CRP. I then sleeved the original axles with brass tubing and the extra width is perfect.

Re: Super A&L MIP SRB

Looks great. I didn't realize that you can run stealth out drives on an A&L trans. A&L have just released a version of the trans for the stealth out drives. It comes with spacers to center the diff and a spacer that fits on the male side of the diff for the bigger bearing. You end up with o...

Re: Super A&L MIP SRB

I really like this build. Is the body going to require any special trimming? I just had to trim a bit more around the shock tower and cut out where the rear arms bolt on. The shell is now pretty weak in the back of the roof so I'll reinforce it with shoe goo and this special gauze like tape that I ...

Re: Super A&L MIP SRB

Well the dyed parts turned out orange which just didn't look right. Unless you were going for Spektrum Orange, in which case, great job!!!!     I did think about keeping the orange and doing a new lexan rough rider shell and dying the wheels orange as well.. Then I thought...

Re: Super A&L MIP SRB

Pretty cool so far. I like everything on there but for me, that transmission is too new to use on a project like this one. I would of loved to of used an mip trans but nobody would sell me one.. Lol The A&l came out in the late 80's which I know is a bit late, but hey you have to work with what...

Re: Super A&L MIP SRB

All I need to finish the build is the rear arm and new bearing carriers which should come next week.

Then it will be ready to hit the track for some vintage racing once I've fitted my trusty Novak Cyclone speedy and a 540 motor and a shorty pack.

Can't wait!

Re: Super A&L MIP SRB

Finally a shot with the body on. It still needs a little trimming and lowering of the body post at the rear as well.

Re: Super A&L MIP SRB

The next step was to tear it down, trim the bumper, make the sleeves for the front axles, fit the body posts and then re dye everything black. http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd72/dj_kilroy/20140630_090318_zps25bcbc1c.jpg Note, the one white rear arm. Bezerk RC misplaced it so is making me anothe...

Re: Super A&L MIP SRB

More playing around with the steering and I think its pretty right now. The good thing about the associated steering design is that you can easily adjust the acerman setting. Now all the parts are on and I tried dying some parts with some yellow dye. http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd72/dj_kilroy...

Re: Super A&L MIP SRB

Here's another progress shot with most of the parts fitted, still lots to do tho. It was a lot of playing around to get the steering setup working right and in hindsight I would of moved the steering links back about 3 mm. http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd72/dj_kilroy/20140626_235311_zpsfb6f789d...
