Def agree something HOBBY GRADE over the Radio shack/Toy grade specials. As long as you are using the same Xtal Mfg with the same equipment is also key. Futaba Xtal and Fut Radio and Receiver. I'll check both of mine when I get home, but I am pretty sure this radio has the contact points to complete the circuit and that is more like a receiver plug. So you could modify the plug or find rechargable batteries.
