Re: ProLine Dirt Hawg

Thanks for all the advise. Will check those out.

And planning to run them on a Turbo Optima/Javelin 4wd buggy. So, having 4wd front will be nice.

ProLine Dirt Hawg

Hi Hi,

I used to run ProLine Dirt Hawg in the early days for general bashing around. I was wondering what could be a modern day equivalent?

Re: What RC Tech has advanced the slowest (and remains relatively pricey)?

Not much has to do with Tech but Stick Radio has been really pricey. I see 3 options at the moment. 1) Futaba 4GRS, US$389 - amainhobbies.com - just got one 2) Futaba 7XC - US699.90 - rcmart.com 3) Sanwa Exzes Z3 - US$699.90 - rcmart.com The 4GRS is based on Futaba 4pm. Futaba 4pm is only US$299. 7X...

Re: brushed ESC's- new vs old old tech

I thought this youtube video is an interesting test 2 years ago. See https://youtu.be/Lo_sMLo0FIM?si=R4tT7Ouj6lvgil3K

You can turn on translation to english from the japanese host on youtube.

Pleasantly surprised that the hobbywing 1060 is slightly faster than the rest.

Re: brushed ESC's- new vs old old tech

I am using the hobbywing 1080 (initial gen) at the moment. Pretty good up to 12T mod. I typically run a 19T mod for bashing. I kind of suspect that the Orac 800 is based on the 1080 given a similar set of setting card. Maybe with a better build of ALU casing. I had a Robitronic speedstar 2 that clai...

Seriously, I will think that the original will be stronger. However, my goal is to have wider gear option around my use of various motors.

Re: Printed gears question

I did some experimentation with the 3D-printed gear of my optima/javelin. Basically, the spur gear on OTW126 or OT208. Printing them with a 0.2-nozzle with PETG works for me, retaining the metal counter gear. I tested with resin as well, and they basically shatter upon full throttle. So far, with th...

Re: 3d printed spur gear for re-release optima/javelin

I put up a minimum fee of $1 euro for all the STL files off cult3d. Way back I put it off as free but noticed that there seems to be a number of bots that start downloading all my files. Hence, the minimum fee intent to block off those bots.

3d printed battery holder for Kyosho Optima/Javelin

Hi folks, Did a 3d printed design for battery holder for Kyosho Optima/Javelin. This is designed for low profile shorty pack that followed the dimension of 18.5x47x96mm. The original intent to have a better battery secure rather than velcro tapes and prevent the battery from moving sideway. IMG20250...

3d printed spur gear for re-release optima/javelin

Hi folks, Just like to share my testing of 3d printed spur gear for the re-release optima/javelin. This allows for various options around various gear ratios. IMG20250503174210.jpg Currently, I have made 54 & 58 available for download at cult3d. Will be making more sizes available such as 52, 56...
