Re: Tamiya Toyota Hilux
I remember the videos in my LHS showing these magnificent machines and I restored one a while ago. One of the most enjoyable and rewarding projects I have ever undertaken. While RC10s were massively outclassing the Tamiya SRBs, this was an area that Tamiya excelled at. True scale and staggering engi...

Re: Best way to buy and build my ultimate hybrid RC10
That FanRC trans is a neat bit of kit. If you're into gear diff transmissions another option (rabbit holes, lol) GoMachV (Factory Works) sells a retro trans setup through JC Racing... looks like a six gear from the outside, but uses a three gear RC10 B6 gear diff inside: https://www.jcracingproduct...

Re: Best way to buy and build my ultimate hybrid RC10
You're welcome. £330 is a good start indeed. Yep, FanRC trans swaps in with the chassis being dual drilled like JosephS mentioned, and some folks think Fan's parts are higher quality than Associated's new parts. And L&L Models, Modelsport and others in the UK carry JConcepts aluminum bellcrank ...

Re: Best way to buy and build my ultimate hybrid RC10
Ooo... interesting build proposition. JoesphS had some pretty good thoughts. There's a few 40th kits on eBay in the UK for £450-£525 add a Stealth trans from £80-£170 with a Factory Works (username GoMachV here) Stealth drilling template www.ebay.com/itm/303982690875 ...or you can print one from he...

Re: Best way to buy and build my ultimate hybrid RC10
I think you meant factory works, not custom works. As well aren't all the new chassis drilled for both transmissions? Ha... indeed I did, thanks, typo corrected. Are they dual drilled? If so it'd save a couple bucks and a some time. 👍 From what I can see in the manuals and build threads, the...

Re: vonMarshall stepping into the dark side of RC10 from the safe cuddly world of Tamiya
Welcome! Any plans on which specific RC10 you're going after? Thanks for all the warm welcomes. Feels like I have come to the right place. Well that is a great question and the answer is, one that does not actually exist as a kit! Building and running RCs is a way for me to let my OCD run riot, my ...

vonMarshall stepping into the dark side of RC10 from the safe cuddly world of Tamiya
Hi all, 1st post here. Kicked off my RC habit in 1982 with a Tamiya Sand Scorcher, saw the odd Kyosho but never an RC10 in real life. I feel back into RC back in 2002, stumbling across a Tamiya 959 on ebay, sending $500 in cash to the seller in Japan (no Paypal in those days!), waiting nervously for...
