Re: Optima Mid RERE
I wonder if Kyosho is planning on releasing any of the long wheel base mid's? I pointed out that the body/undertray mounts for the lwb cars were moulded into one of the sprues, and pointed out that this was a big indication that a lwb Mid must be in the works. As this got a positive response from A...

It's an Associated TC5R FTDiamond Dave wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 7:58 pm I bought this car many years ago and I may have bought it from a member here.
TC3 or TC4? I can't remember, and all the CF is throwing me off.
I bought it because it I have a TC4 I use for running around in the street or parking lot.

Re: Turbo Optima re-re - how sturdy is the transmission?
Well the transmission is basically the same as a modern buggy, with differentials from Kyoshos modern buggies and a belt drive similar to modern cars. 3300kv is about equivalent to a 13.5T motor these days. It can easily handle that, in fact I use a faster 10.5T motor in my original vintage race Opt...

Re: 2.2 wheels on Ultima rere
I'll be trying to fit up 2.2's on a re-release ultima I picked up today at lunch. I have a set of wheels from a Tamiya sand viper that will work. I think trf201 front wheels would work also just hard to find. I was thinking the 4x8x3 flange bearings would work but then I see the JC wheels I ordered...

Like most businesses these days JC Racing makes their product announcements on their Facebook page https://m.facebook.com/wheel89/hav3rchuck wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 7:04 am Is there a specific website where they announced this? I would be interested!

Re: What steering servos is everyone using?
Usually Savox 1258tg and 1251 low profile servos in buggies, especially for racing. I used to use cheaper Trackstar TS-920 servos, good torque and speed. Pretty reliable most of the time but they would occasionally glitch. For a budget servo I usually use Blue Bird BMS-621DMG servos. Proved pretty g...

Re: Bolink Digger sort of
Next question is what kind of gear ratio to use , I was using a 13t pinion with a 54t spur giving 4.15/1 , it felt over geared so on instinct I ordered an 11t pinion to give 4.9/1 , that still seems high to me but I've never driven a rig like this , anyone have a pointer on gear ratios for this wit...

Re: Tamiya 58695 Wild One Blockhead Motors at SilverTriple's sauce :)
Oh I agree! Battery and cable fitment, like so many other design aspects with this and other Tamiya's, is a joke - a very cruel joke. :x At the time of the Wild One release Tamiya was using their hump pack battery, so the battery tray in the chassis is designed for a battery pack that's only as lon...

Re: Amusing Engrish typos on Asian R/C parts
Well now the topic has been dug up again, I have another couple of examples.
From the GS Racing CLX parts list. I like how the colour is important, but it might be a bit short for it's intended purpose.

Re: Amusing Engrish typos on Asian R/C parts
In the RC helicopter world one of Wltoys most popular micro helicopters was sold for many years with "do not fly with borken blades ". Yep, still found on every single Chinese RTF heli from every manufacturer. They just copy and paste the warning from other helis, just like we would do if...

Re: Bolink Digger sort of
Next question , these tires have a 90° shoulder , the road surface and side wall just meet at a hard edge , my mind says that's bad and I would put a radius on the shoulder , this also brings up the question of trueing them , is there an easy way , I mean I have a lath but I've no idea and there mi...

Re: Bolink Digger sort of
Thanks , these tires are very tight to manoeuvre about on the rim so I don't think contact cement without the turps is a good idea Being a tight fit is normal, they need to be stretched on to the wheel to stay on there. I use Evostik for foam tyres, and back in the day never had anywhere I could st...

Re: Hobbywing 1060 clones?
Just got a new HW 1060 in the mail today. This thing is small! And somehow better specs than any of the other brushed ESCs I have in my stash of (admittedly lower-end) so-far-unused ESCs. Makes me want to replace all of them with these things. Also makes me wonder if there's even a market for them ...

Re: Where are cars made (Losi)
People complain about the price of Tamiyas compared to most others, while they don't make their models in China. Guangdong and Fujian provinces are the worlds manufacturing capital for consumer electronics, so it's always going to be the place to go to get something like an rc model built. There are...

Re: Where are cars made (Losi)
It used to be a lot simpler to work out where cars were made, as Kingstar Neo in Taiwan was the worlds biggest rc car manufacturer that no one had heard of. They shut down in 2017, but before that they designed and manufactured cars for many brands, with their biggest customer being HPI Racing and H...
