That's what I'm trying to accomplish like what Toymkr73 had mentioned; trying to use new sets of wheels and tires without changing the axles.... The HPI hex drives I use fit the 1/4" original axles, you don't need to change to B2 axles. You can then fit any wheels from Kyosho, Tamiya or HPI. T...

Gearing should be the same as the 2.2" wheels run lower profile tyres and the overall diameter is roughly the same as 2" wheels.

The original CATs used the same suspension at each end, so the front and rear arms are the same. Soon changed to a more common porper wishbone on the rear. Not much more information at hand. looking at the magazine picture it is a little clearer, the motor is under that bumper so in front of the axl...

Yes, the old HPI Super Star wheels. HPI still make a variation of them for their Super Size cars, but they have less offset so the track will be narrower.

To fit other wheels you usually do have to replace the rear axles.
I use the HPI adaptors to fit hex drive wheels to mine, any modern hex drive wheels will fit.

These adapters are available from Tower

I have a had time believing that a front wheel drive car had such an advantage. I remember when my friend bought a front wheel drive Nichimo. It was the laughing stock of the shop. the minute you hit the throttle, the front wheels would just spin without grabbing much traction The Nichimos wheels m...

The gearboxes are the same on all Tamiyas TA01 and TA02 tourers, apart from the colour. Most of them are red. More usefully the same gearboxes are used in the Manta Ray in black, so to replace the gearboxes you need part numbers 0005375 and 9005318 which should be able to be ordered at any Tamiya de...

Front wheel drives were originally classed as 2wd, so could run in the 2wd class, but after the 87 worlds they were banned. The world champs were usually run on a hard surface to last the week of racing. The tyres at the time were much harder so on a hard clay surface front wheel drive had a huge st...

Gene Hustings preproduction Prototype RC10

Radio Race Car in the UK had an exclusive on the RC10. They got hold of Gene Hustings personal preproduction RC10 and wrote an article on it. Notice the Rough Rider body, hand made shock mounts (front shocks upside down) and 7 cell pack. http://upload7.postimage.org/155381/GenesRC10.jpg http://uploa...

Yes, it's a TA02RS, the only one that came with black gearbox mouldings. The chassis has "RCC Civic" and "copyright 1993" because Tamiya marks the mould with the details of the first car that uses those chassis parts, which is the first car it is designed for, in this case the fw...
