Re: Removing paint from nylon wheels?

My prefered method of stripping paint from plastic is easy off oven cleaner in the yellow can. Thanks shodog, I'll have to try that. Update: The wheels sat in brake fluid over 24 hours and there was still a good amount of pesky gold paint encrusted on the wheels, it couldn't be removed by toothbrus...

Re: Rejuvenating my Optima

Thanks, bdrmbully! Although I have quite a few minor things left to do, it's far enough along that I popped on my old Optima body and wing for a few pictures to share with you guys. Back in the day, I even won a concourse with that funky paint, but I couldn't win a race to save my life. You ca...

Re: Rejuvenating my Optima

I received my sets of wheels and tires today. I was very fortunate that the ones I really wanted to work, actually fit. As you can see, there's zero offset, so all the depth goes inwards. The rear tires came within a couple millimeters of the rear edge of the gold sideguards, and actually touched th...

I get the same level of frustration trying to disassemble/reassemble laptops. I swear those $*(^%& things are built by gnomes or something!

That WAS pretty cool...anyone remember that old PC game, Re-Volt? That was a pretty good computer game using RC cars.

Re: Just want to say Thanks

When I was looking to restore my 25-year-old Turbo Optima, I was searching around for a good forum to join. I know from past experience that it's sometimes not easy to find a forum that has daily frequent activity, as I hate posting something and then having no response for days. I joined 2 forums, ...

Re: Give me some buggy body options for Optima/Turbo Optima

I'm quite sure it is wide enough in the rear, but I don't know if the widest section is forward enough... I have the body but no optima and 8.4V battery to test it out. What's the distance from the front shocktower to the front of the battery and how wide is the battery? I have the battery dimensio...

Re: Removing paint from nylon wheels?

They'll be soaking all day while I'm at work. Hopefully that'll do it. :) Can this same procedure be used to remove paint from lexan bodies? I assume brake fluid won't attack lexan?

Re: Removing paint from nylon wheels?

They came silver from Kyosho I believe . P Not these. I have some that are Option House silver and also a few pairs of white T.O. wheels, but these were originally white, and painted gold, then silver. I recall now why he painted them gold, probably to match his Option House gold aluminum frame par...

Re: Removing paint from nylon wheels?

Some of the paint on these wheels is turning out to be pretty stubborn. It appears that the guy I received them from not only painted them silver, but originally painted them gold--but no primer. I've had them soaking overnight now and scrubbed them with a toothbrush, and there's still some gold pai...

Re: Dylon Dye Products

Krylon Fusion is a paint not a dye- I tried it on a RC Airplane body - all it did was flake off after it dryed. I guess it only works on certain plastics !! It's not a paint, it's a dye, only in spray form. It requires no primer (as paint does) and bonds to the plastic, just as Pactra paint bonds t...

Re: Give me some buggy body options for Optima/Turbo Optima

I didn't mention it before; thinking it was not easily available anyway... but I just saw Team Blue Groove is making repros: Stinger MK2. I have one to measure if you're interested Sure, if that'll fit on the Turbo Optima chassis and will fit an 8.4V flat pack, I might be interested in that design-...

Re: Super slow brushless

Has this move to calculating correct pinion gearing for motors in consideration of tire circumference arisen due to the predominance of truggies and "monster-truck-style" RC cars over the past decade? Tire circumference never seemed to matter that much back in the 80's; now it's a primary ...
