Ideal vintage 2wd wheelbase
Having mostly Tamiya and Associated 2wd buggies in my runner stable, I am used to the 10.5-ish wheelbase common in gold tubs and Madcaps. I picked up a Traxxas Bandit awhile back and will probably get into modding it this winter. The first thing that struck me was how long its wheelbase was, like th...

Re: Bandit performance potential
I am thinking along those same lines for upgrades. Shortening the chassis will be the biggest step. That buggy is just so long. The original TRX-1 seemed long too, but not quite Bandit-long.

Re: Bandit performance potential
I've bent some standard Traxxas shock shafts myself at times too. I will say that in my experience, Traxxas vehicles, like the Bandit, aimed at beginners are more durable than a modern beginner vehicle from Tamiya like the DT03. I admit that being a die hard Tamiya fan with dozens and dozens of Tami...

Re: RC10 Classic popularity
Yeah, that was the initial gist of my question over at Tamiyaclub. If it was deemed profitable enough to do a limited run the first time by drawing up the parts on a computer and producing molds, why not do it a second time, even if the molds needed to be re-made? They still get request for the car....

RC10 Classic popularity
I posed a question over at Tamiyaclub about whether or not AE would/could bring back the RC10 Classic. I noted that according to Shawn Ireland, some of the molds had been lost overseas when the factory using them went bankrupt. Supposedly, they still get request for the car. I was informed that the ...

Re: Bandit performance potential
Thanks all. I think RCveteran pretty much nailed my mindset on this. I'm not a fan of modern Traxxas and how they market nor their lawsuit-happy ways, but the Bandit/Stampede/Rustler came from a time before all that. They just kept making them. Their durability, plentiful cheap parts and old school ...

Re: Bandit performance potential
I guess my thinking is two fold. I like old rear motor buggies from that era. I'd like to re-live that driving style and performance with no guilt or fear of breaking parts. The Bandit is both tough and has great parts support. If RC10 stuff wasn't going up in price and getting rarer, I'd probably b...

Bandit performance potential
I posted this on the Traxxas forum but probably should have done it here on RC10Talk. Does the Bandit have any performance potential when compared to buggies like the old RC10 Championship Edition or Losi JR-X2? I'm not looking for something on par with todays mid motor cars or even an old B4, just ...

Re: Considering a Bandit. Questions
that is kinda crazy. Around me the bandit gets treated like the red headed stepchild of the family. Yeah, I know. It seems like Stampedes and Rustlers are more popular but the prices on these used Bandits around me are nuts. On my local trade sites there's 3 ATM. One is a used XL5 for $235 but come...

Re: 2nd, 3rd, '87 Worlds Ultimas
Quote: First, Kris Moore's third-place car. Kris used the special Ultima chassis, the special radio plate with the Kyosho long shock towers and four Option House* gold shocks. The differential used a Kyosho hard final pinion and a set of custom-made hardened gears. The tires were stock Ultima front ...

2nd, 3rd, '87 Worlds Ultimas
Sorry if this has been covered before but does anybody have any info on or pics of the 2nd and 3rd place Ultimas driven Katsunori Kondo and Kris Moore? Thanks.

Re: Considering a Bandit. Questions
RPM makes a trans case with a metal motor plate and separate, replaceable inner arm mounts. Proline used to make a whole trans but I think its discontinued. The trick is getting donor Bandit cheap. Folks on my local C-List and Marketplace are asking far more for their used examples than a new one fr...

Re: Considering a Bandit. Questions
Very nice. That's kinda what I had in mind. Now I have to find a cheap Bandit donor.
