Re: How the past always comes back to haunt you
(sits down for stories from uncle Tamiya Dan), Ha! I remember getting into Thexder. Spent many hours in front of the computer with that game.

Re: How the past always comes back to haunt you
It's something I'd never do to my daughter. I remember reading Car Action magazine cover to cover every month. Then in the early '90s the magazine went to crap. I got my first car. Girls became alot more interesting. I would get a Car Action magazine, flip through it and toss it aside. Buggies were ...

Re: How the past always comes back to haunt you
Ugh. I think stories like these as well as my own experiences are why I'm such a pack rat today. I collected old Tamiyas when I was a kid and nobody wanted them. My parents wanted me to toss the boxes. I refused so they made me cut them up. At least I got to keep them as "artwork". The rea...

Re: How the past always comes back to haunt you
Wow. Unreal. That's a truly cringe-worthy story. I'm sorry you had to experience that.

Re: Tamiya Mountain Rider
I agree these re-releases have killed the collector market, at least value-wise. I collect for my own pleasure however regardless of what the collection is worth. From a profitability standpoint, Tamiya did the right thing. They could have simply continued to produce new models and left the collecto...

Re: Egress re-release !
Honestly, I wish you would write a book on racing Tamiya vehicles. Your post are very informative. It gives a good look into what racing with a Tamiya was really like back in the day minus all the rosy tint of nostalgia.

Re: For those of us who cant have all the big models
At one time they were believed to be clues as to which models Tamiya would re-release. One by one, Tamiya did re-release all the cars except the Astute.

Re: Anyone have a Tamiya King Cab?
A little history... When the King Cab came out, it was the first dedicated racing truck. Truck racing which started with the Big Bear classes quickly became dominated by Blackfoots when they hit the scene. In a way, the 'foot was the first conversion truck-in-a-box as it originally was a Frog. When ...

Original Boxart RC10 Orange
I know this topic has likely been beaten with stick. What are folks doing to reproduce the boxart orange of the original RC10? Pactra Orange is too vibrant and rich. Tamiya Orange is slightly better but still not pale enough. In my searches, many have suggested Tamiya Camel Yellow. Its close but not...

Re: Tamiya Fox re-re
Hate the altered name but love the re-release. I got my original Fox back in '90 at a hobby show for only $60. Even back then I was collecting vintage RC stuff. At the time, the Fox was just an old has-been kit that the guy was trying to unload. Just 2 years earlier it would have set me back $135. I...
