Ok so we've found out that an Ultima ball diff can be fitted. One shorter dogbone and correct bearings (or adapters) are needed.

I have a plan as to making a Gallop into a runner, and I'd like to replace the gear diffs with ball diffs.

Happy to get any suggestions as to what might fit (with modifications)!

Agreed Thorp diffs are very expensive. Plus a lot of work to adapt the driveshafts. However the performance gain is unbelievable! Old style "loose" gear diffs are worthless for racing.

Thx Chris! In order to convert a Hotshot to a "Supershot" with 4 dampers you'll need: -Rear damper tower (fiberglass) -Front aluminium damper holders (Plus 4x dampers and fastening stuff that fit those dampers) I'd skip the bottom plate (Supershot). One of the biggest shortcomings of these...
