Must be a personality type thing. The addictive collector's society. We're all sickos. What else are you guys addicted to? As a kid, I was mesmerized on the brown and powder blue of SE Racing. I sold the looptail a few years ago, but I still have 3 or 4 vintage SE Racing jerseys hanging in the close...

I went digging through some old RC magazines and found the Kimbrough ad with the diamond wing buttons in it. They had two different sizes, were white, and probably were the source for the AE kits ones if the kits ever came with them. I will scan the ad tonight when I get home from work. ;) My guess ...

I donno what's wrong with that first link, but that Protech II from Tower is a sprint car body, and not a buggy body.

The ad that I posted in the "Vintage Ads" thread showed both Team cars from 1993, and the ad shows both cars coming with the Viper body. At the very least, I know most of the Associated factory guys used that body. ;)

With my local racetrack gasping for air, I decided to focus a bit more on my multiple stagnatn restoration projects—most specifically, the SRP-1 dirt oval car. I figured I'd shoot some current photos of the status as it sits now from the recent once-over and details that have been attended to. Still...

I worked loosely with Bill Curtain (vintagebmx.com) on the first Rockford event, then had my car break down on the way out to the gathering. I was pretty bummed out, because my original looptail PK Ripper and prototype JMC frame would have been fun to display. :( I talk about this with my wife all t...

A gamble pays off...

So last week, Jason and I were discussing an eBay auction for a car with a graphite chassis (aftermarket) with battery slots in it. It came with some spare arms, and Kyosho gold rear shocks, which made it a nice find. It was an oval car and looked nice, but the photos were bad and small, and didn't ...

I have a lot of ideas in my head for a vintage gathering. It was done with vintage BMX a few years ago in Rockford and it was a huge success. A large group of vintage mountain bikers did it last year and already have sponsors and magazine support for next year's event. We're in the process of trying...

Not a problem! I'd like to contribute more, too. I gotz mad skillz, yo. :D I have more scans to do to add more to the ads archive, too. I absolutely LOVE the old stuff, and with my local carpet track going belly up this last weekend, and the off road track in the area blind to electric cars, I'm foc...

Actually, when you said it just now, something clicked in my head that I didn't recall before... thos diamond-shaped nylon wing buttons were sold by Kimbrough Products (yeah, the spur gear company). I remember buying them when I bought my ribbed steering wheel doughnut. :D

We're all friends here. Just sharing info. I think it's cool to talk to guys who have info on this old stuff. We all have so much more to share and learn about this early R/C gold. No need to be defensive about anything—we all want the same things.

:D

It's all good.

Re: More Stuff

The nuts were for the A&L truck conversion wheels using stock axles. There are a few pairs of wheels on eBay right now, so someone who buys them WILL need the nuts if they don't have them already.

I stand corrected. We bought them in bulk from Parma (who included them with the gear cover new), who probably bought them in bulk from a packaging supply company. That's just typical of everything in the RC industry repackaged and sold by anyone who can get their hands on something, like micro oile...
