Re: Tamiya Astute Carbon Fiber

Fibrelyte have the astute chassis on file, you wouldn't need to send it to them if that helps

Re: Turbo Optima Mid SE Battery Question

Might have to modify things slightly to secure lipo pack in the SWB mid. I have a set of battery cups that are sanded flat to allow a fat lipo to fit in there. Somebody else did it, and its a solution to fit the lipo pack between the belt and top deck. do you have any more info about that setup? a ...

Re: Futaba FXT: Cracking open some bags finally

Hey guys. Sorry to bring a thread back from the dead, I read in another fxt thread that the dyna blaster body was a fit for this thing and possibly the stadium blitzer. Does anyone know if the wheelbase on the fxt is the same as the blitzer or did futaba lengthen it a little

Cheers

Re: Brushless equivalent to classic Johnson/Mabuchi 540?

oh for sure you can turn the punch down, good point

i always come from the perspective of the racer so when looking for the equivalent for something, i assume its being run to its maximum

Re: Brushless equivalent to classic Johnson/Mabuchi 540?

interestingly a TL01 with the speed tuned gears is one of the only tamiyas that can be geared tall enough, especially in the buggy the kv is still not the best way to compare. brushless has so much more torque, so even if they were geared the same and both motors produced the same rpm at a given vol...

Re: Jeek's Specs Super Astute Build

in my astute i ran a low profile servo and put the battery holder as far forward as it would go so i could move the battery forward and back to adjust the weight balance

even if the bulkhead and brace are 2 pieces, they look great!!

Re: 2.2 rims

tamiya DF03 rims are true 2.2 inch if you want the best fit for the tyre and they use 12mm hex

Re: Jeek's Specs Super Astute Build

Wow! did u print that front bulkhead! it looks great with the incorporated bracing! nice job

looks like u did the steering belcranks too, they look nice and beefy, the standard ones were a bit too fragile

Re: Brushless equivalent to classic Johnson/Mabuchi 540?

just bear in mind the huge difference in gearing requirements too if you're planning on running it. Most classic tamiya kits cant be geared correctly for 21.5 or 25.5

Re: TAMIYA TOP FORCE FULL CARBON

Hi jerzi. Sorry I read your thread before but I didn't see you wanted gearing help. With 17.5 you'd need to run the speed tuned gears and even then you'd need to run a 27-29 pinion. A 10.5 would be easier to gear correctly with the standard spur I'd start at 19t or 20t pinion if you're racing and ch...

Re: Triumph Discussion

Don't know for sure but from what I've read around the forums, the kyosho transmissions seem easily interchangeable. My plan is to run a triumph tranny in my kyosho outlaw ultima. I prefer belt drives and tough racing make replacement belts

Re: Triumph Discussion

I haven't actually done it on the zxr I have no doubt the slipper setup would work the same

as for front wheels on the triumph, I used tamiya dt02 front rims and bought bearings with 4mm inner diameter for the axel and I think 10mm outer for the wheel

Rears I used team C / ansmann rims

Re: Tomy Intruder racer build

Thanks for the tips mate. Yeah the 540 shouldn't stress the car too much. I'm planning on getting ball diffs into it either from a period yokomo or xpress parts. And definitely I'll be running different shocks on it. The kose universals arrived and they look pretty trick. I've got a mate with a bunc...

Tomy Intruder racer build

Hey dudes About 5 years ago I learned there was such a thing as a Tomy Intruder and since that time I’ve wanted one. After a few attempts to find one over the years I finally scored an NIB Tomy intruder and 2 weeks later, a new built Adonis came my way (it never rains but it pours). So the plan is t...
