Re: Kyosho Optima Build
Looking good! I keep forgetting to look for one of those Sharpies when I'm at a place that might have them. (You know, when you stand up and go in the other room to grab something and then forget what it is you went in there to get?) Thanks for reminding me again.

Is that the independent suspension chassis? I don't think I could resist building it, just so I could play with the suspension...
but then again, you can't unscramble an egg, so wait until you can really devote some time to it and savor the process.

My Classic, in "road mode," with DS wheels and tires and an old Parma (?) Lamborghini Diablo body. Painted flat white on the outside, hoping for sort of an "experimental skunk works" look, but I think it came out more Roger Moore or Crockett & Tubbs. Which is cool too, I gues...

Re: Turbo Optima - Should I?
Yes! Buy it. They're a labor of love, but worth it. As for the gold shocks, they're as good as RC10 shocks, if not better. Not sure about the drivetrain with brushless power; maybe others could help. There is no slipper clutch (well, there sort of is), so launches might be kind of hard on the gears ...

Re: cheap esc/motor combo recommendations.
The Leopard systems are a decent value for $70 including the program card. As for the "380 motor in a 540 can" issue: trust me, it's not a problem. Plenty of torque for anything 1/10 scale or thereabouts. For laughs I put my 12t/3300kv system in a Tamiya Lunchbox; it did backflips from a s...

Re: Kyosho Optima Build
Good start - polished parts look great, and you have a nice straight front skidplate and bumper brace, which is the envy of any old Optima owner.

That'd be fine too... I was just thinking in terms of original release order, which would put the Javelin 2nd.kaiser wrote:wouldn't the javelin come first then?

Based on this, if they re-re the Optima, I'm holding out for the inevitable Javelin.kaiser wrote:now that i have a scorp, i'm holding out for an optima.

Re: What to do when you can't get motivated to finish a buil
This is exactly why I can't follow a "one project at a time" rule like some people do. I get rolling along on something, then get stuck, put it away, and work on something else for a while until I get un-stuck. My problem is not adding any new projects to the queue during those stuck times...

Looks sharp! Still love the old XC/CC-01 chassis. Tough, fun to drive, and with a few tweaks, can surprise you with its ability.

Re: Easter Weekend - What's every one up to?
Same as I've been doing the past 3-4 weekends, and will be doing for at least a couple more: kitchen renovation. Gotta finish putting the cabinets back together, do some more painting, and clear stuff out of the way for the countertop guys to come in and do their thing on Thursday. Next weekend is t...

Re: My chain gang
Nice! I actually had one of those Kawada Porsches back in the 90s. Got it dirt-cheap on clearance sale, with no instructions or decal sheet. Ran the snot out of it on the tennis courts at my apartment. It ran great, but the chain kept wearing a groove in the shrink-wrap on my batteries...

Re: When do you get rid of something?
Tough call, with bodies. A little packing tape, and a "trash" body can be serviceable again, if not pretty. But I guess if you have no attachment to it, then there's no reason to keep it. With mechanical pieces, if something's truly broken, I toss it with no qualms whatsoever, unless I jus...

just the diffrance between "knowing and doing " I think there's more of a difference than that, actually. It's the difference between "knowing how to Google" and "doing". Being able to Google a topic and reading it isn't really "knowing", IMO. Finding informa...

Re: Tidy or Messy ?
Somewhere in-between, actually. Cluttered, but not messy. I like to have tools and things easily accessible, so I'm not fond of putting things "away", but everything has its place. The trouble I have is that if someone else comes in and moves something, I'll spend forever trying to find it...
