Thanks for the offer. When the time comes I'll sort out some diagrams.

GRP sheets - where from? Also CNC cutting service?
I am after some GRP sheets in a compact (radio tray) size. However the ones I have seen on Ebay are the wrong colour. They are all too brown or too sickly yellow / green. What I am after is a more dusty grey / white / green. Kind of like sand blasted / frosted glass colour. Secondly does anyone on h...

Re: Thinking of running slot cars instead
Holy sheet! That is the fastest thing I have ever seen. How the hell do you control them? Surely they are just flat out everywhere? Madness!
Personally I'd prefer something about ten times slower so I could see them!

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
For the record I previously owned ONE rc model. That is now sold and I have ONE 1/8 buggy. I am probably the most minimal owner on here! That said I do like a stash of NIP spares which means I can run my cars properly and break them with no concerns. No reason why a single model cannot be run and ke...

Re: Thinking of running slot cars instead
Can you post some links or pictures to these mega expensive racing slot cars you are talking about. Just interested to see what goes into the top end models.

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
I think some of the tamiya re-re's like the avante were quite good as well - making improvements in materials / quality, but keeping the look. It also distances them in a subtle way from the originals. In this modern age there is no excuse for making a copy worse than the original.

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
If re-re's work for tamiya then why not for kyosho? They are clearly dipping their toe in the water with the scorpion to see how they do. It is big business afterall. The market for them is huge as 90% of people back then owned either tamiya or kyosho. Nostalgia makes a lot of money. So I am fairly ...

Re: Thinking of running slot cars instead
Wow! I previously thought rc car parts had a stupidly high mark up price! I just saw a tiny plastic thing on ebay with a 1000 Euro price.

Re: Who hasn't built their re-release yet?
Indeed. That was also embarrassing for AE. However the problems were not just patchy tubs as far as I recall. Precisely why it should have been a premium product with proper QC from the very beginning. Not a cut price bodge job. They made a call and that is fair enough. Just not the route I would ha...

Re: Who hasn't built their re-release yet?
Where it is made is a principle when it comes to an iconic item famous for being American. Would I care if it were a fax machine? No.
Besides it has been proved the quality has now suffered because of cutting costs abroad. This has cheapened the brand.

Re: Who hasn't built their re-release yet?
Now all the fuss has died down do you guys think it would have been better for AE to have done this whole re-re thing differently? I would have felt a hell of a lot better if this was released as a true premium and rare product: Made in the USA 100%. Made in real limited edition - 1000 units with ea...

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
That is an extreme example. Common sense would say it was a daft price. But even when you spend more sensible sums, ok 1/5th of that... you are still going to get burned big time when the re-res come. Look at current optima prices NIB. They are going to take a hammering some time. The writing is on ...

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
Of course it is never an investment. But having an ocean of repro parts at a fraction of the price makes it pointless. Not making money is one thing (which I never intended to do). But outright losing loads is another all together. I am just glad I only had one 1/10th car. Also the added cool / prou...

Yes that photo brings back memories. I'd love some more Rossi goodness for my new 1/8 stable.
