I don't have specific needs, other than a Yokomo TCS ( darn you people who outbid me, this week! ) and bumper, but I'd love to be able to rummage through for '95 YZ10, Kyosho Rocky, Lost LXT, and JRX Pro SE stuff.
Think I've got a ways to go before being cleared for BST, though.

Re: Super Rocky Project or "My Kyosho Developed Yokomo Envy"
Yeah, I want to get away from the original hardware, where reasonable, for ease of maintenance. If you look farther back in the picture, some years ago I managed to find shoulder bolts for the knuckles that only needed a couple of nylon washers to make work. Seems the OEM stuff rounds out easily. I ...

Re: Super Rocky Project or "My Kyosho Developed Yokomo Envy"
Can anyone recommend a hex drive replacement for this screw on the Rocky? Guessing it's a 3mm thread, around 13mm long. The trick is that it seats flush in the top of the upright and has a slightly smaller than standard head diameter, so a search on McMaster didn't yield any good results. I want to ...

Re: Impulse Buy - What did I get?
He seems so comfortable; my YZ must be one of those Dogfighters that loves everyting. I'm thinking of using music wire for wing wire. Can anyone give me a ballpark wire diameter? Is there a trick to tensioning the front belt without overdoing the rear? The last couple of times I drove it, I could he...

Just a Rocky Project (Formerly "My Kyosho Developed Yokomo Envy")
Though it's probably going to take a while to finish, because projects I undertake normally do and this one has been running longer than any other so far, I've gotten to the point where my "Super Rocky" is starting to resemble what I had envisioned. The story behind this car: Way back arou...

Re: Impulse Buy - What did I get?
That's what I was thinking, too; concrete too grippy. I did get them (or one, at least) tightened enough they don't slip at WOT indoors. And, yeah, not a lot of range of adjustment. If I can't get this other guy by the time I get back from my trip, I may just go ahead and give the blue groove stuff ...

Re: Impulse Buy - What did I get?
Holy Sidetrack! Been a little involved in a dirt bike trip to Moab, coming up in a couple of weeks. Lee: Sure! If you've got a bumper you can part with, I'm interested. I'll take the ugly one, as long as it's whole, because it's probably going to get used! Where do I need to look for Ken? I guess PM...

Re: Impulse Buy - What did I get?
Finally put power to it, tonight! Was exciting to finally run it around the room. Definitely steers differently from the 2wd cars I'm used to, and need to line up the front end. Also went ahead and got an HS-7975HB Coreless Digital servo for it with an aluminum horn, just in case I go race it, and t...

Re: Impulse Buy - What did I get?
What model servo is it? I would imagine any decent mid-range metal gear servo, like a Hitec 5625MG, should be just fine for something like this. Bear in mind that locked steering racks are popular now in modern buggies, since it eliminates lag between servo movement and wheel movement. The B4.2 com...

Re: Impulse Buy - What did I get?
The servo I have is a metal gear, don't know how good it is, though.
But I was immediately envious of the OEM steering with the built in servo saver when I first mocked this all up.

Re: Impulse Buy - What did I get?
It's all on me, now! Need to read up on the needs of the speed controller (resistors and such), but here is what I have for electrics: Spektrum SR301 24GHz Receiver (converted my old racers to this as well, so I have a single transmitter for them all) Hi-Tec HS-625MG Servo Reedy Spec 19 Quad Mag mot...

Re: Impulse Buy - What did I get?
I've considered buying a set of those tires as well. Let me know how they perform on pavement, when you get a chance. :) Right off, they're taller than I was expecting. Hoping they don't bog things down too much. Brushless/ lipo. 50-60min bashing runtimes- 10-12+min full race pace runtimes. Low mai...

Re: Impulse Buy - What did I get?
Have rubber and shocks. My gamble that Yokomo Aluminum Shock Balls would fit Associated Shock Ends paid off. They're a hair smaller, but only enough to be free, not loose. Chose the tires because I don't know of any tracks reasonably near me at the moment, so I want to be able to run around the driv...
