Re: front gear boxes

These builds will be using the "left over" parts from the shelf queen builds, so the mangled lazer alfa box with some cleanly placed black sealant will suffice. I may try to fix the zx box too, because there are enough parts for 2 ratty runners in the box. As for the mids,,, well,, have to...

Re: Optima Limiter Gear Nut

Ok, im your huckleberry,, going to go check! Sorry folks. Not wanting to damage the screw or the shaft, I applied as much torque and pressure as I dared and nothing budged either way. I suppose figuring out which way that gear turns in the trans would hint as to what direction the threads would be, ...

Re: Optima Limiter Gear Nut

Thats mine exactly, but I didnt get pics because its still in the pack waiting to be installed on a dog! Mines got the little springy washers, like a mid slipper assembly. So, is that screw then, a reverse thread?

Re: front gear boxes

Thanks for the info. I was hoping perhaps there was a duratrax equivelent, or something from yeah racing, gpm, or some body else. I have a lazer front box with the afore mentioned break right at the shock tower mount lugs. Also have a lazer alpha box thats mangled to the point it would need a sealan...

Re: Optima Limiter Gear Nut

I have an ot-74 limiter gear, and its fixed with a philips head screw. Is this not the same gear set? Were there different productions of the same part?

front gear boxes

Any body know if there are alloy front gear boxes for lazer and optima mid? I have an instruction book for zx-s and its gearbox is in pieces! What's up with zx-s, is it the last model ? I'm looking for front gear box s for a couple of builds and really anything will be considered.

Re: Identifying Duratrax vs Kyosho Gold Shocks

Seems like nothing ever matched the quality of the original gold shocks. I have a set of newer shocks from ultima RB Im guessing about 2007 ish date wise. They leak.

Re: Is this a lazer zx-5 or zx-5 sp.... Or are they the same

In my area 4wd buggy was also strictly a mod class. Very exciting to race 4wd back in the day. The cars were soo much faster, it was actually like racing. I tried 2wd truck stock, and it was boring slow, stuck to 4wd mod. Imagine getting hit in the shin by an out of control 4wd buggy while corner ma...

Re: Is this a lazer zx-5 or zx-5 sp.... Or are they the same

I agree about everybody should own a xx4 at some point! I had 1 when they first quit making them, before the 2nd production run started. It was the best 4wd buggy I had ever driven. To this day, I have never been able to tune any 4wd buggy suspension to work as well as a xx4 setup. Not zx5, not bj4,...

Re: Ultima project started: with no particular direction in

Its funny how the different models can share parts. Im discovering this by building cars with no instructions! They go together and work just fine. Pretty sure these pics of steering cranks has helped me to solve the same issue. Ill just see if the ones in hand will fit the posts...

Im thinking its for the peugot or crx fwd cars,, but not sure. Was there another fwd in that series? Oh snap, you beat me to it. If not fwd, then possibly for a monster truck body?

Re: If Kyosho did a re-re, which should be their first relea

I vote for something easier to crank out. How about a 4wd pan car, fantom? Or take the initial Tamiya route and bust out some plastic fantastics,, like the shadow or raider. I think though, that Kyosho is content with making entry level stuffs with classic names,, and of course vintage bodied mini Zs.

Re: Is this a lazer zx-5 or zx-5 sp.... Or are they the same

Yeah, looks like a regular zx5 with some ad ons. When it first came out, there were a bunch of upgrades available from aftermarket, such as that carbon plate chassis. I had the distinction of being the first guy in our club to race a zx5 locally,, and soon after almost everybody had one! Within week...
