Re: Cut & shut childhood racer - my trashed Scorpion

So yeah I well chuffed with the rolling Assault chassis as it included a lovely tight diff, straight chassis rails, slightly beefier castor locks at the front and all the ball joints are of a larger size than the Scorpions. The real trailing arms are of a slightly different, tougher looking casting ...

Re: Cleaned Scorpion

Been thinking about a body colour for my all original Scorpion and that green goes pretty well with the yellow tub, nice buggy. With the all original electric including 4 aA batteries and the 7.2 pack the rear springs are sagging like nobodies business but that is old news. My Beetle runner will hav...

Re: Please recommend - adding a motor

Thanks gents, appreciate you taking time to reply. I guess once I have chosen connectors then I can choose the right size heat shrink.

Re: Kyosho Scorpion Resto

Hi all, Can anyone suggest what to use as rubber bushing for where the shock bolts attach to the towers?

Be interested to know the method used to straighten the rails, I'm guessing metalwork vice at the very least.

Re: All original Scorpion from eBay UK

Got the proper camera out to take a couple of photos today. There are a couple of problems, firstly the front suspension towers are bent out of alignment meaning that the car would pull massively to the left. I'll have to remove them and hammer them straight though it seems that they interfere with ...

Please recommend - adding a motor

Gents, I'm new to restoration and need assistance in choose the correct size connectors and heat shrink for connecting an ordinary 540 can. I bought some crap bullet connectors with plasticy sheilding from Maplin but that looks 'whack'.

Cheers all

Re: All original Scorpion from eBay UK

Here she is with the Assault rims and front bumper fitted for a photo after I cleaned and rebuilt the rear end. Unsurprising one of the rear shock clamps is pants. Next up is to clean up the tub and refit. http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab319/danrkelly/78d192f5-0919-46f4-8844-fd7a8f3aa6c7_zps103...

Re: All original Scorpion from eBay UK

This all original Scoprion still has it's spur gear rather than a diff, I wonder if this account for the excessive wear to the drive cups. Incredibly I have a spare spur gear and cups which I've had since 1988. http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab319/danrkelly/009A48CA-A2EE-46FB-B8E3-613E2CFA5C14_z...

Re: Identification assistance - Kyosho Assault

Excellent work gentlemen, thanks for taking the time to reply. The trailing up mounts have been modified too, any idea what model those black posts come from? http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab319/danrkelly/07B6337A-1ACB-4F07-8D3F-71A530EC10A1_zpsvdhs7t0n.jpg Surely this drive shaft would have po...

Re: Cut & shut childhood racer - my trashed Scorpion

Treated myself to a donor car to solve the problem of shocks and tires. Shocks seem good, sadly one of the tyres has a flat spot though. The front bumper is a bonus too as neither of my other chassis have one. Does anyone think there is a market for the two piece shell? I'll be making other parts av...

Identification assistance - Kyosho Assault

Dear all, I have taken possesion of the remains of what I believe to be a Kyosho Assault. It came with some mounting plates which I don't recognise from pictures of complete Assaults. Any ideas welcome, cheers. http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab319/danrkelly/Mobile%20Uploads/2014-01/C421DF1D-35D4...

Re: All original Scorpion from eBay UK

Dear readers (!), is it possible to use a BEC equipped receiver with a mechanical speed controller? I thinking not and that I would need an ESC to make use of the BEC in a receiver. I have a vintage Futaba receiver to replace the failed one which came with the car and wonder if I can ditch 4 AA's. C...

Re: Cut & shut childhood racer - my trashed Scorpion

So here's the cleaned up frame awaiting some sort of shock solution on the back (possible Assault donor coming) and for me to finish patching up the very tired tub which is almost in two pieces but should suffice as this is to be a runner. Note the taller Beetle roll bar. http://i875.photobucket.com...
